Morgantown Elementary Students Win Top Honors in Jim Claypool Conservation Art Contest

The following students from Morgantown Elementary won top honors in the Jim Claypool Conservation Art Contest. Lydia Brown - 1st place, Alex Bratcher - 2nd place, and Briar Griffin - 3rd place. All students are from Mrs. Janet Weathers' 3rd grade classroom. Congratulations to these students!

The Butler County Family Resource Center and the Butler County Extension Office held a "4-H Dollars and Sense" program September 17th at North Butler Elementary and February 4th at Morgantown Elementary School.

Butler County Stockman’s Association Cattle Sale – March 12th

Cow/Calf pair consigned from the Floyd Washer Farm

The Butler County Stockman’s Association will hold their annual cattle sale on March 12, 2016 at 1:00 p.m.  The sale will be held at the Eva Hawes Ag.

Rochester Ball Park

A Rochester Ballpark meeting was held Thursday night March 3 at the Rochester Community Building. There were 13 Rochester citizens in attendance. Greg Baxter headed the meeting. The ballpark is 90% complete.  The fence (which will go around concession stand) and painting and wiring of the scoreboard is all that remains to be complete.  Holes will need to be dug for the fence.  There was also talk of putting a storage building towards the park (about 6’ by 8’).

Events that cause negative stress are known as traumatic events. According the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, traumatic events are “marked by a sense of horror, helplessness, serious injury or the threat of serious injury or death…and affect survivors, rescue workers, and the friends and relatives of victims who have been involved.”

MES Family Fun Night

Morgantown Elementary students and parents enjoyed Family Fun Night on Tuesday, March 1, 2016. Activities were centered around Language Arts and Social Studies topics. Families rotated to various grade level activities including: sight word walk, constitution mini book, how to follow a recipe, and volcano building.

"We want to thank Hillside Café, Subway, and Sonic for their donations. Also, a huge thank you to all the families in attendance and the MES staff for creating a night of fun for our students," said Principal Chad Flener.

Spring Playschool 2016

The Butler County Child Development classes will conduct a Playschool for preschool children.  The days will be Tuesdays for 2 ½ and 3 year-olds, Wednesdays for 4 year-olds and Fridays for 5 year-olds; however, we are willing to work with parents on scheduling.  Children who are presently enrolled in kindergarten are not eligible to attend.  All children must be potty-trained.

Morgantown, KY – 4-H and FFA have an opportunity to raise funds for Butler County and statewide 4-H & FFA programs through the Kentucky Ag Tag Donation program.

North Butler Host 16th District Governor's Cup Advances to Regional Competition

Saturday, February 27th NBES hosted 4 schools as part of the 2016 District Governor’s Cup of Kentucky.  Governor’s Cup was founded in 1986 as a way to promote, reward and recognize outstanding academic achievement.
