March is Women in History Month

March is Women in History month and the Butler County Chapter NSDAR recognizes Mrs. Christine Cox as our 2016 Woman in History. Mabel Romans Boone, Women’s Issues chairman shared some thoughts about Mrs. Christine.

Rarely in life are you lucky enough to have the same amazing elementary school teacher that your Mother and your sisters had. However, our whole family was blessed to have Mrs. Christine Cox as our teacher in Butler County, Kentucky.

Soybean Population Study on Cohron Farm in 2015 Shows No Difference in Yield

In the spring of 2015, Craig Cohron worked with the Butler County Extension Service to plant a soybean population trial.  Soybeans were planted following a winter forage crop in early June with a John Deere 1780 planter in 15 inch rows.  Soybeans were planted at 3 populations by changing gears on the planter transmission.  The beans were treated just like the remainder of the field.  They were fertilized and kept weed free.  The soybeans were harvested October 14 with a 1660 Case IH combine and a 20 foot 1020 header.  Harvested soybeans were weighed using a special wagon with scales under i

Thank You from the Spurgeon Family

I have always known that we chose the best community to live and raise our daughter in, but recently we had the chance to see firsthand, just how amazing you are.
We wanted to express our appreciation to everyone that helped us during our accident. Thank you to the first responders, Butler County Ambulance Service, the Rescue Squad, local fire departments, sheriff's office and Air Evac Team. We are so grateful for the wonderful care that was given to us. We have the utmost respect for you.

Linda Hawkins finds family at book signing.

Rhonda Shaw and family of Arkansas were visiting Nashville,TN. for a Teach Them Diligently National Homeschool convention. They were surprised to meet a cousin from Kentucky, Award-Winning Author Linda J. Hawkins. Mrs Hawkins was guest speaker at the event and book signing with her ten book titles.

 Rhonda and Linda are related through the McKee's from Butler County.The two meet for the first time and enjoyed time sharing stories of their Butler County families!

Faith Fest 2016

Faith Fest is a one day annual event for women & young ladies filled with worship, fun, and fellowship.  It will be held at the Gasper River Association of Baptists Building Saturday April 23rd 10 AM to 2 PM.  The Gasper River Association of Baptist building is located at 530 Helm Ln. Morgantown, KY.   We will have inspiring speakers, wonderful singing, lunch, fun, fellowship, and door prizes. Everything is free!  Please invite your friends and family members.

Morgantown Elementary School opened their doors to the community on Friday, March 18, 2016 and let others see the amazing transformation that has taken place within their building for staff and students alike. Students showcased their leadership skills, and staff shared their successes.

BCHS holds annual Womanless Beauty Pageant

Of the eight hopeful contestants, DJ was bestowed the honor of Womanless Beauty Pageant Queen.

Butler County High School held the annual Womanless Beauty Pageant Friday evening at Butler County High School's auditorium. Eight contestants dressed in pageant garb ambled across the stage to the tune of Right Said Fred's "I'm Too Sexy," blaring from the speakers. Of the eight hopeful contestants, DJ (Jason Ausbrooks) was bestowed the honor of Womanless Beauty Pageant Queen. Proceeds to the event benefit BCHS' Project Prom, an event held every year after Prom, in which students come and play games to win money.
