BCMS Jr. Beta members attend Leadership Summit

This week the Junior Beta officers of Butler County Middle School attended the Beta Leadership Summit in Bowling Green, Kentucky.  Students attended leadership sessions and officer training.  Emmie Hawkins, Mark Gruber, Addison Norris and Jenelle Kimmel competed and qualified for nationals in Lead Outside the Box, a competition where students are given a prompt and must come up with a community outreach project and presentation designed around it. Green River Museum Impact Award Recipient Peggy Ayers Drake

Each year the Green River Museum honors someone who has impacted or preserved Butler County's history. The 2022 Impact Award recipient, Peggy Ayers Drake, recognizes her life and work. A special presentation by Tommy Hines, Museum Director, and reception was held in her honor on Saturday afternoon.

BCHS Honors Band Seniors

The Butler County High School Marching Band honored their seniors on Saturday. The band did a community performance of their show Thor's Hammer.  Free lunch was provided by the Band Boosters.

 

Martin Brown is the son of Debbie and Charlie Brown.  He has been in the band for seven years.

National 4-H Week Celebrates Opportunity4All

National 4-H Week is Oct. 2-8.  This year's theme is Opportunity4All, shining a light on access and equity for all youth.  Young people have power, and 4-H believes that every young person has valuable strengths and real influence to improve our world.  For more than 100 years, Kentucky 4-H has helped youth find and fine tune their passions through fun projects and activities and develop life skills that help them become productive adults and local leaders.  Many of our alumni credit 4-H with helping them succeed as adults.

Butler County Farm Bureau Annual Meeting

Tuesday night, September 13, was the Butler County Farm Bureau Annual Membership Meeting celebration of 84 years of serving Butler County Agriculture.

President Gregory Drake II gave the welcome. Vice President Woody Moore brought the invocation. A meal provided by Green River Caterers followed.

2022 Quality Car Show

1st place: Possum Hazel, 1963 Chevy Nova

Saturday September 10 was the Quality Car Show.  This year’s show was in memory of the late Fred Tate.  The show was well-attended and had 28 total vehicles.  There were plenty of food truck vendors present as well.  John King’s Barbecue and Hometown Grill trucks as well as Sugar Monkey with shaved ice, lemon shake-ups and hot dogs.

Football Homecoming 2022: Orten & Martin Royalty

Miss Trinity Martin and Mr. Nathan Wayne Orten were crowned Butler County High School Homecoming Queen and King on Friday night. Trinity is the daughter of Holly Pedigo and Willie Martin, both of Morgantown. Nathan is the son of Cecil Orten, of Morgantown.

Jesus and Coffee Ministries celebrates 3 years

Jesus and Coffee Ministries will celebrate the group’s three-year anniversary on Saturday, September 17th with a free event. The celebration will include worship, a devotion, breakfast and door prizes.

It’s Homemaker Pecan Time!!!

  It’s pecan fundraising time for the Butler County Homemakers!  Homemakers are taking orders for the FRESH 2022 crop of Schermer pecans, either pieces, halves or chocolate halves, through October 14th.  These are fresh pecans (fresh 2022 crop coming off the trees in September) and the Homemakers will be getting delivery of some of the first pecans picked.  While we ‘usually’ have extra bags to sell upon arrival, extras go fast!  DON’T WAIT – Place your order today to guarantee you get the fresh pecans you need for your baking or holiday stocking stuffers!
