Practice Safe Canning Practices this Summer

Gardens are beginning to bear the fruits of your labor.  Soon, it will be time to start thinking about preserving some of that excess produce for winter months.  Safety is of utmost importance for those of us preserving food, because improperly home-canned food can lead to foodborne illness.

Cindy Howson, Painter

Art is a form of therapy. It's an outlet for frustrations, a long day, or to express yourself in a manner beyond words.   While interviewing Ms. Cindy Howson, I was able to see through her work and her personal interview that art has been her life-long friend.

Grief hits us all differently...especially children.  Even while they sense something is wrong, they are still curious and want to play, and most cannot sit still for long periods of time.

Mr. Sam Gentry: Woodworking Master

Nestled in the southern tip of Butler County resides Sam Gentry. I originally went to interview Sam about his wood carvings, but while there I learned he was capable of so much more.  His home is a museum of carved art; from his hand carved mantel piece, to the mural he is currently painting on his wall, his house breathes art.  He can literally carve anything, even food. Yes, Sam is also a culinary artist.  I don’t know how much better you can get than being able to appreciate and eat a piece of art at the same time!
