BCHS Band Honors 24 Seniors

Butler County Middle School Band performs the National Anthem.

Rain did not stop the music yesterday as The Boyce Flener Marching Invitational was moved inside to the gym at Butler County High School.  Twenty-four seniors were honored.  Congratulations to the Class of 2017!!!!!
The band competed at Ohio County on Saturday night and won the following: best color guard, best percussion, and first place in their class.

 Name: Hannah McClelland
Parents: Kurt and Tammy McClelland
Years in band: 8
Instruments played or positions held: Trumpet
Honors/Awards in Band: Section leader, Most outstanding junior, WKU Honors Band
Favorite Band Memory: Singing on the band bus or trumpet stretches with my favorite people
 Plans: Go to college, major in chemistry or social work and potentially become a guidance counselor
Words of advice for the underclassmen: Enjoy every moment and always remember to play each note to the full length

 Instruments played, or positions held: Flute/Piccolo, field commander
 Honors/Awards in Band: none
 Favorite Band Memory: Every awards ceremony with Hayden, Forest, and Kendra.
 Plans: Attend WKU and go into the Nursing Program
 Words of advice for the underclassmen: There’s a 100% chance that Mr. Ausbrooks is going to fall sometime this year so be there to catch him.


Name: Ashley Mudd

 Instruments played or positions held: Colorguard, clarinet
 Honors/Awards in Band: Always somewhere I am not supposed to be, and countless dum-dum awards for color guard
Favorite Band Memory:  Is just performing in general. The adrenaline you get is unreal.
Plans: Go the Murray State University and become a nurse practitioner and work in the NICU.
Words of advice for the underclassmen:  Stay in the band. It is all worth it in the end. It is a lot of hard work and dedication but, you will form bonds and memories that will last a lifetime. Your band family will always be your best friends. When you hear your cadence, you will know your home.

Favorite band memory: Chess: The Art of Strategy. Enough said.

Words of Advice for underclassman: When you think of the band, think Family. They will always be there for you, no matter what.

Favorite Band Memory: When we got 6th place at state freshman year, which is also, the highest we have ever gotten.

Advice to underclassmen: Don’t be dumb

Favorite Band Memory: The feeling of competing with my band family
Plans: Attend WKU and major in Family Consumer Sciences education.
Advice to underclassmen: Work hard and never give up. It goes by way too fast.

Favorite Band Memory: When Evan and Lute conducted for Lydia and Hayden in a practice run-through.
Plans: Go to college, graduate to become a pediatric nurse practitioner. 
Advice to underclassmen:  The journey of a thousand miles starts with one step. Make sure it’s with your left foot.

Favorite Band Memory: the great pinecone war of 2015 at the Shaker Museum
Plans: UK for pre-vet then Auburn for doctoral of veterinary.
Advice to underclassmen: Remember, there is always a kid In the stands that wants to be like you. Don’t disappoint them.

Favorite Band Memory: That time Riley Slaughter and I became the hype train at band camp.
Plans: To attend WKU and major in Journalism and mass media
Advice to underclassmen: Flow with the form and play with passion. Enjoy the moment.

Favorite Band Memory: my shorts falling to my knees under my bibs during freshman year’s home show and  “Hey Ausbrooks never mind.”
Advice to underclassmen: One more times does not mean one more time.

Favorite Band Memory: Seeing people react to the size of our band and drumline and bus rides to the competitions.
Plans: Attend WKU to major in music education and minor in business to open a music shop.
Advice to underclassmen: Don’t stop trying and always strive to be your best.

Honors/Awards: Best freshman, sophomore, and junior year. 2015 honors band
Favorite Band Memory: Getting to make wonderful music with my friends and family.
Plans: Attend WKU in music education to become a band director.
Advice to underclassmen: The world wants results, not excuses.

Advice to underclassmen: Band is a truly unique experience, make lifetime memories and enjoy it while you can because it will be over before you know it.

Favorite Band Memory: When I broke my ankle because I didn’t have to do anything for the rest of the season.

Honors/Awards: Distinguished two times in solo and ensemble, and outstanding sophomore award.
Favorite Band Memory: The trip to Louisville freshman year. Wonderful memories were made.
Plans: Attend Murray State University to major in psychology.
Advice to underclassmen: Make the most of everything. Try not to stress too much and have fun.
