Board of Education: All schools now qualify for free breakfast & lunch

The Butler County Board of Education met in regular session on Tuesday, June 13, at the Butler County Education Complex. All board members were in attendance. 

District Finance Officer Eric Elms presented the financial report for May.  The beginning balance was $2,278,822.40. The end-of-the-month balance was $2,439,391.20.

Butler County student attends Institute for Future Agricultural Leaders

Louisville, KY (June 20, 2017) – Butler County high school junior Jessica Camp recently returned home from Kentucky Farm Bureau’s Institute for Future Agricultural Leaders (IFAL). Camp and 43 other high school students from around the state attended the five-day summer leadership conference, held June 11-15 at Murray State University.
An identical IFAL conference is being held June 18-22 at the University of Kentucky for an additional 44 students.

BCMS Beta Club raises $900 to benefit the Butler County Backpack Program

The Butler County Middle School BETA Club, under the direction of Butler County Middle School Teacher Mr. Thomas Harper, partnered with the Butler County Family Resource Center and Youth Services Center to fundraise for the local Backpack Program.  The BCMS group sold Tumblers from the KY Fundraising Company to raise money for the benefit of students who receive weekend backpack food in Butler County Schools.  In total, the group worked to raise $900.00 for the program.

Aberdeen Baptist Church Vacation Bible School 2017

Aberdeen Baptist Church concludes their Vacation Bible School for the year 2017.  The VBS theme was Galactic Starveyors and it was a wonderful year as numerous workers came together to teach boys and girls Bible stories, Christian songs, and crafts which illustrated the lessons learned.  There were 266 enrolled with an average attendance of 186 each day. Eight were saved during this year’s school. Dr. Roger W. Taylor and the entire VBS staff would like to thank all those individuals who brought children or helped make this year a tremendous experience.

4-H Project Day Camp – June 26-28

The Butler County 4-H Project Day Camp will be June 26-28 at the Eva Hawes Ag Expo Building from 9 a.m.—3 p.m.  We will have many projects available including:  woodworking, needle stitching, cooking, nature crafts, photography, painting, and much, much more.

Butler County's BackPack Program is still feeding hungry children one weekend at a time

Most parents cannot imagine not having enough food available at home to feed their family, but for approximately 1 in 4 children in Butler County this is the harsh reality. Fortunately, many who are students have been identified by school administrators, teachers, cafeteria workers, or family resource directors as being at-risk of going hungry on the weekends when the school meals they often rely on are unavailable.  That’s where the Butler County BackPack Program fills the void.

MES Day Camp A Huge Success

Morgantown Elementary held its annual summer school program the week of May 29 – June 2.  This year’s “Day Camp” was held from 7:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. each day, Tuesday through Friday.  Participating students were in for an exciting week!  Each day started with breakfast, the Pledge of Allegiance and the MES Leader in Me pledge.  Students had three classes every morning with an emphasis on reading and literacy skills before coming together for a morning assembly program.

BCHS Class of 1960 Reunion

The Butler County High School Class of 1960 will have a class reunion July 1, 2017 at the Butler County Educational Complex.  The brunch will begin at 10:00am.  The cost is $25 per person.  Call 270 526-4390 for more information.

Green River Catfish Festival Fun Float
