BCKY Rocks Paint Class and Project

Only One You, is a book written by Linda Kranz that is about a mama and papa fish sharing wisdom they have gained through the years with their son. The author uses painted “rockfish” as illustrations to inspire and comfort children as they go through life.  It only takes one person’s act of kindness to make a difference in someone’s day.  With this in mind a community project called The Kindness Rocks Project will be happening in Butler County.

Butler County Profile: Holly Vincent, An Able Bodied Helper

John Michael Huffman gets a shoulder to lean on.

I walked into Kummer Little Recreation Center in Bowling Green to interview Butler County native, Holly Vincent, and one of the first things she tells me is, “You need to know that I am not special just because I help special needs people, anyone can work with them if they are willing to be open minded and devoted to helping others.”

Chad Tyree BCSA Chairperson, Maddie McKinney scholarship recipient, and Alonda Imbruglio Board Member.

In 2014 the Butler County Stockman’s Association (BCSA) held its first production sale of locally produced cattle in the Eva J. Hawes Building located in Morgantown’s city park with help from Butler County’s local UK Cooperative Extension Service agents.  The intent of the auction was to provide a local marketing outlet and buying opportunity for locally produced pre-conditioned cattle as well as a linchpin for educating and providing resources for local agriculture.  In 2017, the BCSA awarded the first annual scholarship to its first recipient, Ms. Maddie McKinney.

Woman bit by snake while watering her flowers

You may need to be cautious when outdoors, just ask Evalina Burden.  As she was watering her flowers on Saturday evening, on Tyler Street in Morgantown, she was bitten by a snake.  She did not see the snake and was unaware of the bit until she went inside and saw the blood on her ankle.  Her ankle started swelling, so she went to the Butler County EMS. They suggested she go to the Emergency Room.  Mrs. Burden was treated at Greenview Hospital and released with antibiotics.
