Butler County home to two 2022 Certified Farm Markets

Louisville, KY (May 31, 2022) - Cardwell Family Farm and Struttin Rooster of Butler County are two of the 126 markets across the Commonwealth accepted into the 2022 Kentucky Farm Bureau (KFB) Certified Farm Market Program.

In joining the KFB Certified Farm Market Program, Cardwell Family Farm and Struttin Rooster, have committed to offering quality products and service to their customers.  Acceptance by Farm Bureau tells customers that these markets meet the highest standards of quality, freshness, and marketing appeal.

MPD Traffic Stop results in drug arrest

On May 30, 2022 Morgantown City Police conducted a Traffic Stop in the intersection of West G.L. St and Logansport Rd. Through the investigation, Jossie M Powell, age 38 of Butler County was arrested and charged with Possession Controlled Substance 1st Deg 1st Off (Drug Unspecified) and Drug Paraphernalia Buy/Possess. Jossie M Powell was lodged at the Butler County Jail. Assisting on scene was the Butler County Sheriffs Office.

Senator C.B. Embry receives the KEA's Friend of Education Award

FRANKFORT, KY (May 27, 2022) - With a past career in education, Senator C.B. Embry has been a voracious supporter of teachers, students, and public education as a whole. Education legislation was his primary focus during his tenure in the Kentucky General Assembly. Each session, he continuously sponsored legislation that furthered the interests of the school system and those who relied on it.

Following this year’s legislative session, Embry was honored by the Kentucky Education Association with the “Friend of Education” award, the organization’s highest honor.

Appalachian counties continue to dominate lowest level of County Health Rankings in Ky.; most counties moved at least 10 notches

The annual County Health Rankings & Roadmaps report, showing how the health status of every county in the United States compares to that of every other county in the state, has been released.

Many Kentucky counties showed little change, but 76 of the state's 120 counties shifted up or down by at least 10 notches in the rankings, which essentially measure of how long and how well we live.

Russ, Swift, and Raymer victorious in closely-watched races

The hard-fought Republican primary in BC has come to an end and Wayne Russ, Kenny Swift and Rebecca Raymer were all victorious in what were arguably the most closely-watched races this political season. Russ edged out Dana Phelps, his closest competitor, 753 to 649. Ralph Spohn finished a distant third (587 votes) with Jody Henderson, Chris Reneer and Timmy Givens rounding out the field.
