On June 24, members of the Morgantown Police Department responded to a call at Valhalla Village Trailer Park for a victim who had been attacked and found unconscious. Joseph Lee Kirby, 41 was arrested and charged with Assault, 1st Degree, and Tampering with Physical Evidence through the investigation.

Joseph Kirby is lodged in the Butler County Jail on a $50,000 cash bond.

The Butler County Sheriff's Department and Butler County EMS assisted on the scene. Air Evac transported the victim to Nashville.

As of Friday morning, the victim is in extremely critical condition; if the victim dies, the charge of assault 1st will be increased to the charge of murder.
