City Council Meeting

The Morgantown City Council convened on September14, 2023, for a regular meeting.  The meeting was attended by all council members. 

Mayor Billy Phelps opened the meeting by recognizing Andy Fuller for his 20 years of service with the Morgantown City Pool.  Fuller was presented a plaque for his service with the city.

Paradise Chapter TVA Retirees work at John Prine Memorial Park

Paradise Chapter of TVA Retirees recently installed six benches, six garbage cans, and ten picnic tables at the John Prine Memorial Park in Muhlenberg County.  The chapter received a $9,253  grant for the project.

Retiree Charles Perry reminded the group of the TVA motto: "Built for the People,"

Kentucky State Police Investigate Shooting Death in Logan County

Auburn, Ky. (September 1, 2023) – On September 1, 2023, just before 2:30 a.m. Kentucky State Police Post 3 received a call from the Logan Co. Sheriff’s Office requesting assistance in investigating a shooting that occurred at the 6499 Friendship Church Road in Logan Co.

‘Ag Tag’ donations reach highest level ever for program

Kentucky farmers donated $735,815.88 to the Ag Tag Program for 2023. The voluntary donations are divided equally among Kentucky 4-H, Kentucky FFA, and the Kentucky Department of Agriculture (KDA). This year each group received $245,271.96. Commissioner of Agriculture Dr. Ryan Quarles presented members of 4-H (top) and FFA (bottom) their Ag Tag donations Friday at the Kentucky State Fair.
