Ribbon cutting celebration to take place on Tuesday, October 22,, at 11 a.m.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (Oct. 15, 2024) – Morgantown Bank & Trust is proud to announce the grand opening of its third location in Warren County. The new branch, located in the Rich Pond area at 8051 Nashville Road, officially opened its doors today. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, October 22, at 11 a.m.

Grain Crops Update: A mixed bag of weather events has harvest numbers varying

MORGANTOWN, Ky. —  As Kentucky corn and soybean producers move through their harvest season, yields have varied depending on farm locations and whether Mother Nature was kind or not.   

Producers in the western part of the state seemed to fare better as of late September than those further east.

Morgantown Mayor Receives 2024 KLC LEAD Award and Certified Municipal Officer Designation

LEXINGTON, KY – The Kentucky League of Cities (KLC) proudly announces that Morgantown Mayor Billy Phelps has been honored with the 2024 KLC LEAD Award and the Certified Municipal Officer (CMO) designation. Mayor Phelps is one of a handful of city officials to receive the CMO designation — the first to achieve the honor, which requires at least 45 hours of continual education. Mayor Phelps has 51.75 hours. The recognitions reflect his dedication to professional development and lifelong learning.

Local educator honored in Frankfort

A local educator was recently recognized for her efforts in the teaching field.  Amy Smith-Thomas was honored in Frankfort on Tuesday, September 17, at 1:00 CDT by officials with the Kentucky Department of Correction.  She was recognized as Corrections Champion  Teacher of the Year for her work with teaching Butler County Jail inmates and those in the local Christian Recovery program.  Smith-Thoma

BCHS Football Homecoming set for Friday

Rain may have postponed Butler County High School Homecoming festivities last week but it definitely didn't cancel them.  All plans are in place for the annual event, which is set for tomorrow - Friday, September 20. The festivities will begin at approximately 6 p.m. and will result in the crowning of the 2024 BCHS Football Homecoming King and Queen.

City presents Hispanic Heritage Festival

The Charles Black City Park in Morgantown is expected to be abuzz with activity on Saturday, September 21, as the City of Morgantown hosts its first-ever Hispanic Heritage Month.  The event will run from 2 to 8 p.m.
