HS Football: Bears to host Bethlehem for non-district game

MORGANTOWN — Butler County is set to host Bethlehem for a non-district high school football game on Friday, Oct. 4.

The Bears and Eagles met during the 2023 high school football season. Bethlehem pulled away to beat Butler County 45-8 on Sept. 29, 2023.

Butler County is 0-6. The Bears have dropped games to Logan County, Webster County, Warren Central, Grayson County, Hart County and Franklin-Simpson. Through six games, opponents have outscored Butler County 211-97. 

Under the direction of Coach Josh Robins, Butler County competes in Class 3A, District 2. 

Offensively, Butler County is averaging 333.3 total yards and 2.4 total touchdowns per game. 

Bethlehem is 4-2. The Eagles have notched wins over Marshall County, Doss, Carroll County and Washington County. However, Bethlehem has suffered losses to Lloyd Memorial and Campbellsville. Through six games, Bethlehem has outscored opponents 162-101. 

Under the guidance of Coach Tim Mattingly, Bethlehem competes in Class 1A, District 2. 

Offensively, Bethlehem is averaging 222.2 total yards and 3.2 total touchdowns per game. 

Currently, Bethlehem is ranked second behind district rival Campbellsville in the KHSAA Class 1A RPI Standings. 

Butler County has regular season games remaining versus Bethlehem, Adair County, Glasgow and Ohio County. 

Bethlehem has regular season games remaining versus Butler County, Kentucky Country Day, Holy Cross (Louisville) and Sayre.  

 

Kickoff for the Butler County-Bethlehem game is slated for 7 p.m.  The game will be live on WLBQ.
