Radiothon nets $19,000 for Holiday Food Baskets

The Annual Radiothon for the Morgantown Mission began with the goal of collecting enough pledges to fill 500 holiday food baskets for needy local families. It ended four hours later with 634 plus Baskets pledged and $ 19,000  raised.

It was a collective effort that made the Annual Radiothon a success. Several people, businesses, groups, churches, farmers, county officials, and organizations rallied behind the Mission, demonstrating the power of community support.

WASHINGTON – September 2024 – Today, Guidehouse’s Energy, Sustainability, and Infrastructure segment announced the winners of the 2024 Generation Knowledge Service (GKS) Plant Operational Excellence Awards. The awards recognize power plants that have demonstrated excellence in cost and operational management, as well as improved performance and reliability. Eligible plants were separated by technology, with coal plants requiring >50% utilization and combined cycle plants requiring >30%.

LEXINGTON, KY – The Kentucky League of Cities (KLC) was honored to present Morgantown Mayor Billy Phelps with a Certified Municipal Officer award. Mayor Phelps is among a small group honored this year with the distinction, the first city officials to reach the top tier in the KLC City Officials Training Center.

Fatal Collision in Butler County

A two-vehicle accident occurred on Wednesday morning, October 23, around 5:30 am on Hwy 79 South. 

The head-on collision resulted in one fatality: Arvin Tyree, 33, of Lewisburg, Kentucky. Brendan Shanklin, 24, of Morgantown, was the driver of the other vehicle.

The accident is still under investigation. The Butler County Sheriff's Department, Butler County Rescue Squad, and Butler County EMS responded.
