Local educator honored in Frankfort
A local educator was recently recognized for her efforts in the teaching field. Amy Smith-Thomas was honored in Frankfort on Tuesday, September 17, at 1:00 CDT by officials with the Kentucky Department of Correction. She was recognized as Corrections Champion Teacher of the Year for her work with teaching Butler County Jail inmates and those in the local Christian Recovery program. Smith-Thomas was one of three in the state honored.

Several local dignitaries were in attendance including Butler County Schools' Superintendent Robert Tuck , Butler County Judge/Executive Tim Flener, Butler County School Board member Debbie Hammers, State Rep. Rebecca Raymer, and Senator Stephen Meredith, among others.
