2016 Morgantown-Butler Co. Chamber Annual Awards Dinner

The 2016 Annual Awards Dinner of the Morgantown-ButlerCounty Chamber of Commerce was held on Tuesday night at the Butler County Educational Complex.
President James Runion welcomed everyone, Butler County Judge Executive David Fields gave the blessing, and Green River Caterers provided the meal.  Next, was the presentation of awards.

Single Vehicle Fatality on KY 185

Richardsville, KY (October 26, 2016)- The Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green responded to a single vehicle injury collision today at approx. 1:34 pm near the 10,000 block of KY 185 in Warren County that resulted in the death of the operator of the vehicle.
 
The preliminary investigation indicated that Gerald Clark (70) of Roundhill was operating a 2001 Chevrolet Camaro and was traveling southbound in the 10,000 block of KY 185 when he dropped off the right shoulder of the roadway.  The vehicle then overturned and rolled multiple times, ejecting Mr. Clark.

George H. Dabbs honored by Green River Museum

Each year the Green River Museum honors someone who has either impacted or preserved Butler County history. The 2016 recipient was famed local photographer and artist, George H. Dabbs in recognition of his life and work. A special presentation by Tommy Hines, Museum Director, and reception was held in his honor on Saturday afternoon. Several of Mr. Dabbs descendants were on hand.

Fiscal Court Approves Bid for Lock 5 Road Bridge

The Butler County Fiscal Court held their second regular scheduled meeting on Monday, October 24th.  With a shortened agenda due to the passing of Fifth District Magistrate Bobby Moore’s father, the court quickly took care of business.  First, they approved a $179, 658.49 bid from Cambry Contracting Inc. for the Lock 5 Road Bridge.  Four bids were submitted and reviewed by State Engineer James Edmonds.  Per Judge David Fields the Cambry Contracting bid was the lowest and met the requirements.

NBE Principal presents K-Prep scores to Board of Education

The Butler County Board of Education met in regular session on Tuesday, October 18, at North Butler Elementary School.  Board members Amy Hood, Delbert Johnson, Debbie Hammers, and Ryan Daugherty were in attendance.

Eric Elms, Finance Officer for Butler County Schools, shared the treasurer’s report for September.  The beginning balance was $1,501,190.31, and the balance at the end of the month was $1,188,177.56.

Wreck on Natcher

Gary Wayne Rippy of Portland, Tennessee, lost control of his truck on Thursday morning around the 23-mile marker on the Natcher Parkway.
Rippy drives for B & L Trucking of Franklin, Kentucky.  He was not injured.  The accident is being worked by the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (CVE) of the Kentucky State Police.
Butler County Deputy Heath West and Butler County EMS responded.

Morgantown Turns Pink

The Sixth Annual Turn Morgantown Pink was held on Sunday afternoon in the Butler County Courthouse lawn.  Becky Hankins, emcee and surivior, welcomed everyone followed by a prayer by Anita Cardwell.


Kim Moore, 32, was the keynote speaker sharing her story of surviving breast cancer.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – There are new eyes in the sky over WKU and it’s called White Squirrel Weather. Since its inception in 2007, the B.S. Meteorology Program within the Department of Geography and Geology has grown from three majors to a current enrollment of 67.
