WLBQ Radio Auction Nets $10,857 for Boys & Girls Club

The Annual Boys & Girls Club’s Radio Auction was held on Saturday in the lobby of Morgantown Bank & Trust.  Tim Coleman and Tom Jones hit the air waves on WLBQ 101.5 FM at 8:00 am and the phones started ringing.  By the end of the auction, the total raised was $10,857.

Murder Suspect Being Sought in Butler County Double Murder Arrested

Bowling Green, KY (November 20, 2016)-  Thirty-three year old Charles W. "Cotton" Lindsey, who was being sought for the Murders of two people that were discovered in a burnt vehicle in rural Butler County on November 9, 2016, was located today by Officers with the Bowling Green Police Department in the limits of Bowling Green where he was taken into custody without incident and then relinquished to Detectives with the Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green.

Fire destroys home on Caneyville Rd.

Fire destroyed the home of Charles and Regina Bratcher located at 10800 Caneyville Road on Thursday evening.  The Bratchers were not home at the time of the fire, and there were no injuries. Responding to the scene were Morgantown, Fifth District, Fourth District, Rochester, and Caneyville Volunteer Fire Departments. The American Red Cross also responded.
The home appears to be a total loss.

Butler County Grand Jury Indictments

The Butler County Grand Jury returned indictments against thirty-nine individuals on November 7, 2016. Charges include drugs, receiving stolen property, assault, and wanton endangerment. Arraignments have been set December 13, 2016, at 10:00 am.

BCMS temporarily evacuated after written bomb threat

Butler County Middle School was evacuated earlier today after school officials discovered what appeared to be a written bomb threat in a student restroom.  At approximately 8:45 a.m. a student reported a bomb threat that was written on the wall of the restroom.

City Council hears concerns, reports, and approves ordinances.

The Morgantown City Council met in regular session on Thursday, November 10th.  All of the current council was present as were the newly elected members, Jason Gaskey, Dustin Embry, and Sterling White.

The Butler County Fiscal Court met in regular session on Monday night at the Butler County Courthouse.  All magistrates were in attendance.

School District Energy Star Certified, MES and BCHS report on test scores

Eric Elms reporting to the Butler County Board of Education.

The Butler County Board of Education met in regular session on Tuesday, November 8, at Butler County Middle School.  Board members Ryan Daugherty, Debbie Hammers, and Delbert Johnson were in attendance. Amy Hood was absent.
District Finance Officer Eric Elms presented the financial report to the board.  The beginning balance for October was $1,188,177.92.  The end of the month balance was $1,045,706.07.

Fiscal Court hires two,approves payment to Sheriff's Department.

The Butler County Fiscal Court held a called meeting on Wednesday, November 9th at the Butler County Courthouse. 
The court approved a motion (5-0) to make payment to the Butler County Sheriff Department of $7,232.48 for payment for a  new vehicle.
Next, they approved the hiring of Chaylee Melton as a part-time Animal Shelter employee.  The rate of pay was set at $9.50 per hour not to exceed 100 hours per month.

Mudd appointed to Judicial Nominating Commission for the 38th Judicial Circuit and District

Gov. Matt Bevin appointed Mark Mudd of Morgantown, to the Judicial Nominating Commission for the 38th Judicial Circuit and District.

"I'm honored to have been appointed by Governor Bevin to the Judicial Nominating Commission for the 38th District and Circuit Courts.  Butler, Edmonson, Ohio and Hancock Counties are all served by this important court within our Judicial System.  I will work very hard to represent Butler County well in this endeavor of public service," said Mudd.
