A Butler County man missing since last weekend has been found dead in an automobile near Highway 70 West.

Bonnie Howard Annis directs donation to Butler County FFA

Butler County High School Future Farmers of America (FFA) has received a $2,500 donation from America’s Farmers Grow Communities, sponsored by the Monsanto Fund and directed by  local farmer, Bonnie Howard Annis. The donation will help the Chapter by assisting members in attending camp, conventions and competitons according to Lee Ann G. Daugherty, FFA Advisor/Agriculture Teacher. In previous years Patrick Daugherty and Shane Wells also directed their donation to the Butler County High School FFA Chapter.

B.C. Schools recognized for energy efficiency

During the recent Kentucky School Boards Association (KSBA) Annual Conference, school districts were recognized for having at least one school that had achieved the ENERGY STAR Labeled School rating of 75 or above. Special recognition was given to 10 districts - including Butler Counry - that have achieved ENERGY STAR rating for all their schools.

Fiscal Court: Flex Fund Roads, 211, and County Roads

The Butler County Fiscal Court met in regular session on Monday night, April 11th. Absent from the meeting was Second-District Magistrate Johnny Tuck.

The first agenda item was a presentation from Greg Meredith with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 3. Meredith outlined the 2016-17 Rural Secondary road aid for Butler County. The county will receive a total of $1,384,472.00.

April National Child Abuse Prevention Month

The City of Morgantown and Butler County proclaimed April 2016 as National Child Abuse Prevention Month Tuesday morning in the lobby of the Butler County Courthouse. Butler County Judge Executive David Fields and Morgantown Mayor Billy Phelps signed the proclaimation and was joined by several community leaders.
National Child Abuse Prevention Month has been observed each April since its first presidential proclamation in 1983.
 

Butler County Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen of the Year

The Butler County Daughters of the American Revolution announce the Good Citizen for 2016. Emily Caroline Wallace, daughter of Greg and Penny Wallace, senior at Butler County High is our Good Citizen.
    Emily has been active in many school activities her high school years.  Some are Beta Club, Health Occupations Students of America, Pep Club, Family Career and Community Leaders of America, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Tennis, Golf and was Field Commander of the Butler County Marching Band.

Thumbpicking guitarist highlights ‘Makings of a Master’ exhibit in Beaver Dam April 29

Guitarist Alonzo Pennington will play a free concert April 29 at Ohio County Artists Guild in Beaver Dam, part of the Kentucky Arts Council’s traveling exhibit “Makings of a Master,” which will be at the guild through May 31.

FRANKFORT, Ky. — Thumbpicking guitarist Alonzo Pennington will be the featured performer during the Kentucky Arts Council’s “Makings of a Master” exhibit’s stay in Beaver Dam through May 31. Pennington will perform a free concert Friday, April 29, from 7 pm. to 9 p.m. central time at the Ohio County Artists Guild, 101 N. Main St. in Beaver Dam.

Alonzo Pennington is the son of renowned thumbpicker Eddie Pennington, a recipient of an arts council Folk and Traditional Arts Apprenticeship grant and a National Heritage Fellow.

BCHS Students Receive Several FCCLA Awards at State Convention

Entire BCHS Student Delegation

Thirty-three members and two advisors from Butler County High School attended The Kentucky Association of Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America's 71st Annual State Leadership Conference on March 29-31 at the Galt House Hotel in Louisville, KY. Schools from all regions in Kentucky attended, with a total of over 820 members in attendance. KY FCCLA State Convention's theme was "Kentucky FCCLA TODAY."

Members participated in a variety of sessions and also competed in state competition.
