Daugherty named 2017 Kentucky Farm Bureau Career and Technical Education (CTE) Teacher of the Year
FRANKFORT, KY – LeeAnn Daugherty, an agriculture teacher at Butler County High School, is the 2017 Kentucky Farm Bureau Career and Technical Education (CTE) Teacher of the Year. The annual CTE award program recognizes excellence in Career and Technical Education teaching, administration, leadership and community service.
Daugherty was selected 2017 Kentucky CTE Teacher of the Year for her many contributions over her teaching career to uplift students, provide the opportunity for student achievement, and contribute to her community. She rotates 12-course offerings through the school year, including six options for dual credit from Murray State University. Greg Drake, the Butler County Extension Agent, was quoted in her nomination: “Her program is innovative and effective. She is able to motivate students and has created a culture where participation and achievement is expected, LeeAnn is known in our community as someone who gets things done.”
Daugherty was one of six Kentucky CTE educators honored at the 2017 statewide CTE Summer Program held at the Galt House Hotel, Louisville, July 23-26. Almost 1,500 CTE teachers and administrators attended the largest CTE professional development opportunity in the state. More than 200 separate presentations provided continuing education for the attending teachers and administrators.
