Butler County Chapter NSDAR 2018 Silver Tea

The Butler County Chapter NSDAR held their annual Silver Awards Tea on Thursday, April 26 in the Lucille Hood Room of the Butler County Public Library. There was a capacity crowd as many parents and other relatives came to see the students recognized for their achievements. The program began with a welcome from Chapter Regent Jane K. Smith and devotional by Chaplain Peggy Drake. The pledge to the flag was then led by Flag chair Lynda O’Driscoll.

Citizens gather to raise awareness of child abuse

On Saturday, April 21st, 2018 large group of citizens gathered on the lawn of the Butler County Courthouse to raise awareness of child abuse. The event consisted of many organizations volunteering their time to help bring attention to a problem that impacts Butler County.

State's March unemployment hits lowest rate in more than 40 years

FRANKFORT - Kentucky’s seasonally adjusted preliminary March unemployment rate was 4 percent, the lowest rate recorded for the state in the 42 years since the Bureau of Labor Statistics started providing data in 1976, according to the Kentucky Center for Education and Workforce Statistics. The unemployment rate for March was down from the revised 4.1 percent reported for February.

Morgantown City Council Meeting

The Morgantown City Council held their monthly meeting on April 12th at the Eva J. Hawes Building.  All members were in attendance, Dustin Embry, Sharon Johnson, Russell Givens, Gary Southerland, Jason Gaskey, and Sterling White.

Fiscal Court: Roads, K-9, and Computers

The Butler County Fiscal Court met in regular session on April 9th at the Butler County Courthouse.  All magistrates were in attendance, Stevie Givens, Johnny Tuck, Chad Tyree, David Whittinghill and Bobby Moore.
The first item on the agenda was the approval of a resolution to accept Russellville Street in Rochester into the County Road System once the state has paved the street.
