Morgantown Care and Rehab held their Annual Hall of Fame Induction Service and celebrated 50 years of service to the community on Thursday night at Morgantown Community Church.  Chaplain Derek Cain served as emcee for the evening. 
Guest speaker Jim Green, CEO of Building Bridges 4 Life, challeneged everyone to become "Bucket Fillers", "Like tonight's inductees we all need to connect and invest in others."

Tuesday, October 10, marked the first meeting of the Born Learning Academy held at Morgantown Elementary School.  Founded via a grant from the United Way, the Born Learning Academy is a series of six workshops for parents and guardians to attend that will help them increase the percentage of children that are kindergarten ready.  Melissa Glass of the Butler County Family Resource Center stated that the first teacher a child has is their parent and the time with their children before they begin school is valuable.

The Butler County Fiscal Court held the first meeting of the month on Monday, October 10th at the Butler County Courthouse. 
The court started their business by approving the minutes of previous meetings and litter abatement payments to Reedyville RD ($609), BCMS Cheerleaders ( $600), and Butler County Rescue Squad ($638).

PARK RIDGE, ILLINOIS – Gary Jenkins, a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) and co-owner of Excel Anesthesia in Beaver Dam, Ky., received the 2016 Ira P. Gunn Award for Outstanding Professional Advocacy during the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) Annual Congress held September 9-13, 2016, in Washington, D.C.

The Butler County Fiscal Court, the Morgantown City Council, and the County Volunteer Fire Department Chiefs held a joint work session on Thursday to discuss the proposed Fire Dues Ordinance.  According to representatives from the Fire Departments, they need additional funding; many stated they put their personal money into the local fire departments.

Springfield, Missouri-  Michael B. Gary Jr. of Jones Funeral Chapel recently completed 31 contact hours of specialized embalming and reconstructive training as part of Fountain National Academy Training Facility, the seminar focused on highly skilled embalming techniques and included special surgical techniques. These techniques advanced the skill level of the professional embalmers attending regarding general embalming techniques and post-mortem reconstructive surgery techniques.

On October 25, 1988, President Ronald Reagan designated October as Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness Month.  On Monday morning
Butler County Judge David Fields and Morgantown Mayor Billy Phelps signed a proclamation declaring October Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month in Morgantown and Butler County.
Mayor Phelps read the proclamation and thanked Katrina Sims for making him aware of this important issue.
