Cheryl Hughes: Liar, Liar, Pants on Fire

Because of all the talking heads on social media, TV and radio, I barely flinch anymore when I hear someone say something that doesn’t sound true.  It seems to happen every hour, on the hour.  Occasionally, I might call someone an idiot, not to their face, to the program on which they appear.  Still, there are times when a lie is not just outrageous, but also so malicious that it stops me in my tracts, and I react with outrage.

Jarrod Jacobs: Just Like You??

What if you knew of people who were trying to be just like you? What if folks wanted to dress like you, act like you, talk like you, be employed at the same place, live in the same town you live in, etc.? What would you think of people like that? Do you think this would be a wise thing for folks to do? Would you encourage people in this pursuit? Why or why not?

Cheryl Hughes: Bugged

If you were a fly on the wall in my house, at the current time anyway, you would be in big trouble.  Brother cat has become one heck of a fly catcher.  At random times, he will jump straight up into the air, land, head jerking left then right, run, jump once more and pin the fly to the floor, where he wallers it around until it is no more.

Legislative Update: Representative Melinda Gibbons Prunty

BELTON, KY—Across the nation, people woke up on Tuesday September 11, 2001, thinking it was going to be just like every other day. That all changed at 8:14 a.m. when the plane struck the first tower of the World Trade Center.

Jarrod Jacobs: “Doctrine Does Not Matter!”

When discussing certain Bible topics with others, and trying to ascertain what God wants us to do, have we ever heard someone say, “Doctrine does not matter, anyway”? Do we agree with this statement? Does doctrine matter when it comes to Bible subjects?

To begin, it is necessary to understand that the word “doctrine,” as is used in Scripture, means “teaching.” Thus, would it make sense to say, “Teaching does not matter”? Of course, not. Yet, there are many today who treat the doctrine or teaching of the Bible as unimportant. This is dangerous!

Patty Craig: A Slice of Time

Recently, I’ve been thinking about peace of mind. It has been defined as a feeling of being safe or protected. Google provided the following synonyms for peace of mind: calmness, comfort, contentment, happiness, and pleasure. In Billy Graham’s “My Answer” column (Daily News, August 30, 2022), the author noted, “Today there’s little personal, domestic, social, economic or political peace anywhere.”

Jarrod Jacobs: What Makes You Angry?

Is there anything that makes you angry? Indeed, being angry happens to all of us. The Holy Spirit inspired Paul to write to the Ephesians and tell them, “Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger” (Eph. 4:26). Please read that verse carefully. Being angry is not necessarily a sin. Yet, sin can occur when one is angry! It is often the case that one sins when angry. Whether or not one sins in anger depends upon what one does with his anger. Is your anger released in constructive ways?

Legislative Column Representative Melinda Gibbons Prunty

BELTON, KY— Monday, September 5th is Labor Day 2022 in the United States. It is always good to reflect on why a holiday is celebrated. Oftentimes the original intent gets lost and having a day off is the only thing that enters many people’s minds.

The goal of Labor Day is to honor the contributions and achievements of American workers. It has historically been celebrated on the first Monday in September.
