Betty Jean Russ

Betty Jean Russ, age 75 of Morgantown, KY passed away Thursday, October 6, 2022 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, KY.  She was born on Monday, October 7, 1946 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Everett Patterson and May Couch Embry and wife of the late Edward L. Russ. Betty was a retired nurse, working at Lakeview Nursing Home in Morgantown for 33 years and she attended Trinity Full Gospel Church. She enjoyed traveling, cooking and spending time with her family and friends especially her grandchildren.

James E. “Jimmy” Anderson, age 75, of Morgantown, Ky. passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his family.  He was born in Tompkinsville, KY on July 25, 1947 to the late Clarence and Ora B. Collins Anderson.

Rhonda Phelps

Rhonda Phelps, age 66, of Hartford, Ky. passed away on Thursday, Sept. 29, 2022 at the Owensboro Regional Hospital.  She was born in Cincinnati, OH. on Apr. 17, 1956 to the late Wyman Bluford and Doris Collins Phelps.  She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking and taking care of her flowers.  She is preceded in death by her parents; sister Vicki Phelps; brother Danny White.

Rhonda is survived by her husband of 40 years, Dan Phelps; son James Levi (Betsy); sisters Regina Morris (Larry), Terry Lee; brother Randy White; several nieces and nephews.

Frank Edward Carr

Frank Edward Carr, age 82 of Morgantown, KY passed away Saturday, October 1, 2022 at his residence. He was born on Monday, October 9, 1939 in Ecorse, Michigan to the union of the late William E. and Zelma G. Mitchell Carr. Frank was a retired United States Army and Air Force veteran and member of the American Legion Riders Post 54 in Fernandina Beach, Florida. He also retired from the City of Fernandina Beach, Florida Golf Club and Morgantown Freight. Frank loved camping and his puppies.

Leland Steven Burns, age 68 of Glasgow, KY passed away Thursday, September 29, 2022 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, KY. Leland was born on Tuesday, January 26, 1954 in Warren County, KY to the late Fred and Elzie Phelps Burns. He enjoyed knife and coin collecting, loved hunting and working on cars. Other than his parents he is preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Gracie Lorene Embry Felty, age 96 of Morgantown, KY passed away Saturday, October 1, 2022 at  Morgantown Care & Rehab, surrounded by her children. Lorene was born on Saturday, September 4, 1926 in Butler County, KY to the union of the late James Ellis and Sally D. Gary Embry and wife of the late Chelsie E. Felty. Chelsie and Lorene married on December 23, 1946. She was a member Brooklyn Missionary Baptist Church and a homemaker.

Betty Fay Embry Woodcock

Betty Fay Embry Woodcock, age 88 of Jetson, KY passed away Thursday, September 29, 2022 at the Morgantown Care & Rehab. Fay was born on Tuesday, August 7, 1934 in Butler County, KY to the union of the late Homer and Edna Renfrow Embry and wife of the late McClellan Woodcock. She was a homemaker and attended Christian Home Church of Christ. In later years Fay worked part time in the cafeteria of Fourth District Elementary School . She enjoyed spending time on the farm with McClellan after he retired whether it was in the garden or sitting on the front porch.

James Matthew Stagner

James Matthew Stagner, age 50 of Beaver Dam, Ky. passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at his residence.  He was born in Warren Co., Ky. on August. 13, 1972 to the late James Gary Stagner and Sharon Cardwell Butrum who survives. Matt operated a restaurant and concession stand in Beaver Dam and was the former owner of The Pizza Man in Morgantown.  He loved football and fishing.  He is preceded in death by his father and aunts Clarice Brown and Ruby Hawkins.
