JoAnn Martin Daffron

JoAnn Martin Daffron, 78 of Bowling Green, Ky., formerly of Morgantown, Ky., passed away Thursday, July 31, 2014 at the Rosewood Manor Health Care Center in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The Butler County native was born September 18, 1935 to the late Dewey Martin and Belle Embry Martin. She was a retired from Holly Carburetor after 42 years of service. She is preceded in death her parents, five brothers Robert, Ed, Archie, Charlie and Ray Martin and three sisters Myrl Lindsey, Erlene Keown and Linda Porter.

William Lawrence 'Bill' Annis, 89, of Bowling Green died Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at 5:52 p.m. in Nashville, Tennessee.  He was born July 8, 1925 in Butler County, KY. to the late Conley and Eunice Watkins Annis. He is preceded in death by his wife Ruth Wilson Annis, sister Clara Thomas, brother Waldemar Annis, grandchildren Maggie McKeon and Richard McKeon.

Mattie Elizabeth Boyd, 97, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at Professional Care& Rehab in Hartford. She was born October 16, 1916, in Grayson County daughter of the late Cortis and Gertrude Patterson. Mattie was a member of the Central Grove Baptist Church. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband Harlan Boyd in 2001, her son Roger Boyd in 2003 , her sisters Alice Cullan, Clari Dame, Wilda Abner and Ruby Gregory and brothers Bethel Patterson, Leslie Patterson, Ross Patterson, Kenneth Patterson and Jessie Patterson.

Sammie Earl Martin age 82 of Auburn, Kentucky passed away Monday July 21, 2014 at the Auburn Health Care. He was born in Butler County, Kentucky on October 14, 1931 to the late John Luke and Leora Givens Martin. Sammie retired from Cliffs Farm Service in Bowling Green, a farmer and a long time member of the Cave Springs Baptist Church. He was a Devoted Husband, Loving Father and Loved his family.

James Robert “Pete” Moore

James Robert “Pete” Moore, age 72 of Jeffersonville, Indiana passed away July 19, 2014. He was born in Louisville, Ky. on February 27, 1942, to the late James Walker and Lena Moore. He was reared by his late Aunt Elsie Pearl and Temple Martin of Logansport, Ky. He graduated from Butler County High and retired as a Chief Engineer from American Commercial Barge Lines. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the Clark County Casting and Conservation Club. He was preceded in death by a son Gregory Allen Moore.

Shirley Joan Green

Shirley Joan Green, 76, formerly of Beechmont, KY died Friday morning, July 18, 2014 at 3:28 am in the Morgantown Care and Rehab Center following a lengthy illness.  She was born on March 4, 1938 in Chicago, IL the daughter of Henry Richard Schuck and Cecelia Josephine Tometick Labicki. She retired from Emerson Electric in Russellville, KY after 14 years and was of the Catholic faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Franklin E. Green in 1988, son Daniel Green, Grandson Thomas Wines, Sister Dorothy Haley and Brother Henry Schuck.

Gayle C. Spurlock

Gayle C. Spurlock, formerly of Princeton, Kentucky, died July 15th at his home after a brief illness. He was born in Trigg County, Kentucky to the late James Spurlock and Rubye Clemens; he was preceded in death by a brother, Terry Wayne Spurlock, a son, Mark Spurlock, two grandsons, Jarrod Taylor and James Spurlock. He was a graduate of Butler High School in 1954, Princeton, Kentucky and Murray State. He was a member of Monticello Missionary Baptist Church. He was in the U.S. Army in the Secret Service (ASA) as today known as the CIA. He was a retired teacher and coach of 38 years.
