Mary Lee Phelps

Mary Lee Phelps, age 86, of  Bowling Green, Ky. passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at the Cal Turner Rehab and Specialty Care in Scottsville, Ky.  She was born on Oct. 2, 1936 in Morgantown, Ky. to the late Elwood and Bonnie Embry Phelps.  She was a member of White Stone Quarry Church.  She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Ray, Robert, Odean and Bill Phelps; sisters Bertha Roberts and Emily Mae Campbell.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Gwendolyn Penrod

Gwendolyn Penrod, age 86, of Morgantown, Ky. passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, Ky.  She was born on Oct. 20, 1936 in Morgantown, Ky. to the late Jesse and Irene Smith Penrod.  She was a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church and a retired Foster Grandparent for the Head Start Program and was loved by all. Gwendolyn loved music, singing and dancing.  She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Gerald and Troy Penrod; nephews Paul, Dwight and Little Gerald.

Patty Davenport Vaughn

Patty Davenport Vaughn (83) of Versailles, Kentucky and formerly of Rochester, Kentucky passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at Northpoint (Lexington) Healthcare Center. Patty was born on April 30, 1940 in Butler County, Kentucky to the union of the late Charles K. and Edna Mae (Barrow) Davenport of Rochester. She was a member of the Versailles United Methodist Church and was retired from the Butler County Schools where she was a longtime teacher and administrator. She was preceded in death by her husband Howard Willis Vaughn.

Kandy Kaye Embry, age 60, of Morgantown, KY passed away, June 24, 2023.  She was born in Wooster, OH on Aug. 19, 1962 to the late Rex Garfield Newkirk and Wilma Jean Carathers Durham.  She loved UK basketball and was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Danny McCaslin; sisters, Jean Lundy & Tina Durham.

Norma Jean Romans

Norma Jean Romans, age 84 of Morgantown, KY passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at the Ohio County Hospital in Hartford, KY. Norma was born on Friday, October 14, 1938 in Muhlenberg County, KY to the union of the late Elmer and Rosie Willoughby Leslie and wife of the late Herman Lee Romans. She was of the Baptist faith and a retired seamstress. She enjoyed collecting antiques, sewing, crafts, quilting and flower gardening.

Ellen R. Larsen

Ellen R. Larsen, age 85, of Morgantown, KY passed away Monday, June 19, 2023 at the Hospice of Southern KY Hospice Center in Bowling Green, KY. Ellen was born Tuesday, January 18, 1938 in Ogden, UT to the union of the late Lloyd Elvon and Ida Ellen Simmons Richan. Ellen was a member of the Morgantown Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints where she served as director of the Family History Center. She was a retired office manager and homemaker. Ellen enjoyed knitting, playing piano and organ, making quilts for the Hospice Center and assisted many with family history.

Hilda Fae Clark

Hilda Fae Clark, age 87 of Morgantown, KY passed away the 11th day of June 2023 at her residence. Fae was born to the union  of the late Maburn and Olive Carson Rock Cook on Monday the 1st day of July 1935 in Butler County, KY. Fae was the wife of the late William Leslie Miller and the late Charles Weldon Clark. She is preceded in death by one son William Marcus Miller. She was a member of Aberdeen Missionary Baptist Church and a retired nurse and homemaker. Fae was an amazing cook and talented artist, who loved to sing, travel, study God's Word and enjoyed entertaining company.

Beatrice Elaine Johnson Cornwell

Beatrice Elaine Johnson Cornwell, age 81 of Morgantown, KY, formerly of Draffenville, KY went to her heavenly home on Friday, June 16, 2023 at the Morgantown Care and Rehab. Bea was born Saturday, September 27, 1941 in Butler Co., KY, the oldest of ten children to the union of the late Wallace and Lottie Johnson. She was a member of Briensburg Church of Christ in Benton, KY and enjoyed reading, sewing and supporting the Murray State University Racers. Bea grew up without wealth but had the love of her parents that taught her about the bible and God.
