Oaks Inducted Into WKU Health Honor Society

Western Kentucky University’s chapter of Alpha Epsilon Delta (AED) inducted 28 new members on November 14. Alpha Epsilon Delta is the national health pre-professional honor society dedicated to the encouragement and recognition of excellence in pre-professional health scholarship, including medicine, dentistry, veterinary, and others.  Students must have a minimum of 45 credit hours, a 3.2 grade-point average and have demonstrated significant community service and outstanding academic potential.

Heritage Animal Hospital: No Bones About It, Bones are Unsafe for Your Dog

“Some people think it’s safe to give dogs large bones, like those from a ham or a roast,” says Carmela Stamper, D.V.M., a veterinarian in the Center for Veterinary Medicine at the Food and Drug Administra¬tion. “Bones are unsafe no matter what their size. Giving your dog a bone may make your pet a candidate for a trip to your veterinarian’s office later, possible emergency surgery, or even death.”

MES Veteran's Day Program

Morgantown Elementary students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade attended the Annual program in the Gym. The National Anthem was sung by Mrs. Tammy Young , the MES boy scouts lead the pledge to the flag.   Students in Ms. Graham’s class presented the Story of Veterans’ Day.  Mrs. Weathers’ class presented a poem honoring Veterans.  The program continued with a lesson on the poppy flower, which has been the symbol of remembrance of all Veterans since 1918, when Ms.

Alpha Epsilon Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma International Meets

The Alpha Epsilon Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma International met Saturday, November 12, 2011 at the First Christian Church in Guthrie, KY for their annual holiday bazaar.  Twenty seven members and guests enjoyed a delicious brunch prepared by the ladies of the Robert Penn Warren Society. After the brunch the ladies moved into the chapel for their business meeting and their initiation ceremony.

Welcome Miles Alexander Phelps

Brandon, Pam and Ann Claire Phelps would like to announce the new addition of Miles Alexander Phelps to their family.  Alexander is the grandson of Miles and Wilma Tomes and Kevin and Debi Phelps and is the great-grandson of Darlene Tomes, June Humphrey and Bernice Phelps.  Alexander was officially adopted from Russia on Sept. 20 and came home in Oct.
