"Books and Breakfast" at MES

The Family Resource Center Hosted "Books and Breakfast" on Tuesday, April 17th at Morgantown Elementary School. Family of first grade students were invited to have a wonderful breakfast prepared by MES Kitchen Staff. 

Guest then traveled to the classrooms and spent time reading to the students.

BC Schools Kindergarten and Preschool Pre-Registration Information for 2012-13 School Year

April 17–19, Tuesday & Wednesday: 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM
Thursday:  8:30 AM – 6:30 PM

Pre-registration for the Butler County Public Schools will be conducted April 17 - 19 at the school your child will attend.  NOTE:  Students living south of the Green River shall attend Morgantown Elementary.  Students living north of the Green River shall attend North Butler Elementary.

BCHS students win statewide economics challenge

Team Brilliance: Embry, Rich, Gruber, and Mencl

Two teams from Butler County High School competed in the Kentucky Economics Challenge against over 86 other teams from other school districts. Team Brilliance, comprised of Emily Rich, Britney Gruber, Abby Mencl, and Matthew Embry, placed first in the state in the David Ricardo Division. The Paint Ballers, made up of Trevor Howlett, Zach Coy, and Jacob Clark, placed ninth in the competition.

Every member of each team had to take a 35 minute online test in micro, macro, and international economics. The three highest scores were kept and used when calculating the team scores.

Line Dancing With The Stars At MCRC

If dancing front and center makes someone a star to behold, that was certainly the case Wednesday afternoon in the lobby at Morgantown Care and Rehab. Listed on the activity calendar as “Line dancing with Ashley,” residents Aline Carroll, Linda Gray and Billy Wood joined in and were assisted by Ashley Flint and Leah Burden who served as instructors of some of the latest moves. It’s too bad the scorecard stops at 10.

Playschool 2012 is underway

This week marked the beginning of preschool for children ages 2.5 to 5 at Butler County High School. Children attending playschool come one day each week for four weeks where they have the opportunity to learn and play with other children their age. High school students in Mrs. Kimberlea Embry's parenting/child development classes create developmentally appropriate activities for the 70 playschool children.

COUNTDOWN ... 24 instructional days; BCHS Graduation set for May 18

With only 24 instructional days left in the 2011-12 Butler County School year, students, teachers and administrators are busy with end-of-year preparations ranging from state testing, prom, and graduation.   Spring sports are nearing their mid-way point, as well, with various post-season competitions slated for mid-May.

Little Muddy Rural Development Club News

The Little Muddy RD Club met March 19th, 2012 at 6:30 p.m.  There were 20 people present.  The meeting began with Jared Hudnall leading the club in the pledge to the American flag.  Greg Drake gave the blessing for the meal. After the meal President Sean Weeks called the business meeting to order. The minutes were read by Secretary, Donnita Weeks and approved.   The birthdays and anniversaries were announced and celebrated with song. The club thanked the hostess for the night Mary Hatcher.

DAR Awards in Lexington

Members of the Butler County Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution attended an awards ceremony in Lexington on March 31. Several Butler Countians placed in competition.
