NBES Second Graders Perform Musical

GO FISH, is the name of the musical performed by the second graders at North Butler Elementary School on Tuesday night and again on Wednesday afternoon.
“We are very proud of our second grade students, they have worked so hard,” said Principal Elaine Daugherty, as she welcomed everyone to North Butler.

Jace Levi Robbins

Dennis and Jennifer Robbins would like to announce the birth of their precious baby boy, Jace Levi Robbins. Jace was born December 27, 2011 at 3:42 am and was 8 lbs. 2 oz. and 21 ½ inches long. He is the grandson of Donnie and Gail Drake, and of Garry and Betty Robbins, all of Morgantown. He is the great-grandson of Celia Drake, and of Charles and Bernice Wilson, all of Morgantown, and of Dayton White of Greenville.

Coleman selected as a "Women in STEM High School Aerospace Scholar"

Hollie Coleman, a junior at Butler County High School, has been selected as a "Women in STEM High School Aerospace Scholar." This program is run by NASA and competitively accepts female juniors in high school who are considering careers in engineering. Hollie's exemplary grades, maturity, participation in BCHS science club, leadership in BCHS Rocket Team, and participation with last years rocket team, which placed 14th in TARC national competition, helped secure her position as a scholar.

It's A Girl: Avery Quinn

Butler County Head Start Taking Applications

Butler County Head Start is now taking applications for enrollment for the 2012-2013 school year.  You may apply if your child will be 3 or 4 before October 1 and if your family's income falls within established poverty guidelines.  Please bring birth verification for your child and proof of family income when you come to apply.  Butler County Head Start is located at 104 North Warren Street, in the lower level of Butler County Health Department.  Staff is onsite 7:30 am until 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday.  The phone number is (270)526-3002.  Head Start is a federally funded program throu

Hanging Clothes In Record Time

While an encouraging crowd cheered them on, residents of Morgantown Care and Rehab participated in a competition of old fashioned origin. The rules were simple and direct, hang laundry neatly on a line and take it down later as if a storm was approaching.
Helen Phelps serves as helper for Emma Deweese.
According to Helen Phelps, there were a total of 16 participants. The event took place Wednesday afternoon.

Polymer Clay Crafting - Your Inspiration to Create

Tracy M. Thornton, County Extension Agent for Family & Consumer Sciences

Polymer Clay is the hottest arts and crafts medium to hit the market in years!  Colorful and extremely versatile, it may well be one of the most creative crafts you learn.

Tracy Thornton will present “Polymer Clay Craft” at the 2nd Saturday Craft Class on March 10, 10 am, at the Butler County Extension Office.

Those attending will learn to make jewelry that looks like turquoise. There will be a minimum class fee of $1.00 for clay.  Other items needed to finish your item will be available for purchase at an additional cost.

Butler County Halter Holders Compete at KY 4H State

On Saturday, February 18th the Butler County Halter Holders competed at the KY 4H State Skillathon in Madisonville, KY. They competed against other 4-Hers in the same age groups of Clovers (9-11) and Intermediates (12-14). Clovers: Carlee Mitchell, Kadie Hunt, Mattie Wells and  Olivia Dunn. Intermediates: Kiana Coleman and Ashley Merideth. Also competing were our Cloverbuds: Mackenzie Coleman and Lydia Wells. The girls placed as follows:

Morgantown Mission to have Grand Re-Opening at Temporary Location March 12th

The Board of Directors and staff are very excited to announce a new store and renovated Ministries Building are finally in progress. Operations will continue until March 7th at the current location. We will then close March 8th - 10th to finish stocking our temporary location and reopen Monday, March 12th at the old Save-A-Lot store. A sign will be posted. Anticipated grand re-opening of the new store will occur in late 2012.

Butler County Class of 2002 Reunion
