BCHS's Elmore tops bridge-building field; Green River School wins H.S. Division at BRIMS

Tristan Elmore, a sophomore at Butler County High School, placed first at the 2012 BRIMS Regional Bridge Building Championships sponsored by Scott & Murphy, Inc. and Stupp Bridge Company on March 10. The students from the Green River School, also part of the Butler County School District, won first place overall in the High School Division of the competition.


Butler County Drug Free Coalition Meeting

The B.C. Drug Free Coalition would like to invite you to a community meeting on Thursday, March 15 at 5:00 at the Butler County Educational Complex (the large meeting facility room). We are so thrilled to have Ms. Shannon Weatherly as our speaker for the evening. Shannon is the policy analyst for the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy; she will be explaining what a coalition looks like and how we as citizens of Butler County can be that coalition!

BCMS Wins the 2012 BRIMS Regional Bridge Building Contest

On Saturday, March 10th, the Butler County Middle School bridge building team won the BRIMS Regional Bridge Building Contest at Stupp Bridge Company in Bowling Green. In the middle school division, BCMS claimed 1st place out of 5 schools participating.

Butler County Education Preservation Presents Gospel Evening With Ivan Parker and The Crossmen

Butler County Education Preservation Society is presenting a Gospel Evening on March 30 at 7:00 PM at Morgantown Community Church, 2882 Bowling Green Road, Morgantown, Kentucky featuring Ivan Parker and The Crossmen.  All proceeds will go to Butler County Education Preservation Society and their goals of preserving the history of Butler County.


Butler County Chapter NSDAR Selects Joyce Porter Hammers, Woman In History

March is Women in History month and the Butler County Chapter NSDAR has chosen to recognize Joyce Porter Hammers as our Woman in History. Joyce was born in the Eden community of Butler County and continues to reside in that area. She was married to the late Floyd Hammers and has two children: Kelley (Leo) and Clark (Debbie).


NBES Second Graders Perform Musical

GO FISH, is the name of the musical performed by the second graders at North Butler Elementary School on Tuesday night and again on Wednesday afternoon.
“We are very proud of our second grade students, they have worked so hard,” said Principal Elaine Daugherty, as she welcomed everyone to North Butler.


Jace Levi Robbins

Dennis and Jennifer Robbins would like to announce the birth of their precious baby boy, Jace Levi Robbins. Jace was born December 27, 2011 at 3:42 am and was 8 lbs. 2 oz. and 21 ½ inches long. He is the grandson of Donnie and Gail Drake, and of Garry and Betty Robbins, all of Morgantown. He is the great-grandson of Celia Drake, and of Charles and Bernice Wilson, all of Morgantown, and of Dayton White of Greenville.

“I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him.” (1 Samuel 1:27)


Coleman selected as a "Women in STEM High School Aerospace Scholar"

Hollie Coleman, a junior at Butler County High School, has been selected as a "Women in STEM High School Aerospace Scholar." This program is run by NASA and competitively accepts female juniors in high school who are considering careers in engineering. Hollie's exemplary grades, maturity, participation in BCHS science club, leadership in BCHS Rocket Team, and participation with last years rocket team, which placed 14th in TARC national competition, helped secure her position as a scholar.


It's A Girl: Avery Quinn

Mr. and Mrs. Andrew (Emily) Heaton of Page, Arizona would like to announce the birth of their daughter Avery Quinn Heaton on February 15th, 2012.

Grandparents are John and Janeen (Taylor) Ence, Roger Kingsland of Las Vegas, Nevada and Robert and Kay Heaton of Cedar City, Utah.
