Maxfield-Willis to exchange vows

Jon and Angie Inglis and James and Charlene Willis are pleased to announce the upcoming marriage of their children, Alison Maxfield and Patrick Willis.

Alison is the granddaughter of Sue Beliles and the late Jackie Beliles of Bremen. Patrick is the grandson of Charles and Janice White of White Ridge and Ray and June Willis of Morgantown.

The ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. on June 2nd at Forest Oak Church in Belton. A reception will follow at the church. All friends and family are welcome to attend.

BCHS April/May 2012 Students of the Month

Four Butler County High School students have been recommended by faculty/staff members for April/May student of the month honors based on attendance, promptness to class, participation in class, grades and attitude.  These students are Kelsey Jenkins, Trevor Jenkins, Kayla Spurgeon and Clay Embry.

Green River NSDAR and Barn Quilting

Barn Quilting was a main topic of discussion for the ladies of the Green River Chapter NSDAR at their April business meeting (and last several meetings).  

Peggy Boaz is chairing a several member committee to launch the project in Butler County.  She has always loved quilts, and being the avid gardener that she is, she will create and display a large Barn Quilt on the side of her home in Eden.

BCHS Playschool Class of 2012 Graduation

The Butler County High School child development classes hosted their 39th Playschool Graduation ceremony on Tuesday, May 8th in the BCHS Auditorium. Over 60 playschoolers made the trip across the stage to receive their graduation certificates in front of their families and playschool teachers. Some of the children were hesitant to cross the stage while others skipped or even ran across the stage.

Tea History & Etiquette Presented in KY

Audubon State Park  and “The Castle”, in Henderson, KY on May 5, 2012 was the place to be for a Mother’s Day event. Kentuckian, Award Winning Author, Linda J. Hawkins, presented a tea history with etiquette to those present, drawing from her two books; Catering to Children with Recipes for Memorial Teas and The Unspoken Language of Fans & Flowers with Recipes. These Gift books have garnered her three awards.

Morgantown Care and Rehab celebrates National Day of Prayer

Lucille Briggs joins a prayer chain of hands with Bro. Randy Burns, Bro. Greg Wallace, Judge-Executive David Fields, Superintendent Scott Howard, and Mayor Linda Keown

Morgantown Care and Rehab, a Signature HealthCare Community, celebrated National Day of Prayer on May 3rd by inviting local officials to join their staff and residents for a series of prayers. After the welcome and pledge, led by Bro. Jim McDaniel, and the National Anthem, sang by Tiffany Winchell, the prayers began. Prayers were led by Bro. Roger Taylor, Bro. Raymond Ward, Bro. Greg Wallace, Bro. David Hocker, Bro. Jim McDaniel, and Bro. David Roland.

Modern Woodmen Announces New Youth Club

A new Modern Woodmen of America Youth Service Club is starting in Morgantown. The club will have its first activity on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at Butler County High School, 1852 South Main Street in Morgantown. Children between the ages of 12 and 16 are invited to the activity to find out about the benefits of membership.

Ashley Johnson, Morgantown, will lead the club, and Faye Milam, Morgantown, a local Modern Woodmen representative, will sponsor the club's monthly activities.

Class of 1952 60 Year Reunion

The 1952 graduation class of Morgantown High School will have their 60 year class reunion May 26, 2012 at 6 pm at the Butler County Library in Morgantown (Come to the back door).

A dinner meal is planned and the cost will be $15.00 per person.

If you were a member of this class at any time during our four years of school, please come and join us for an evening of goood food and fellowship.

BCHS SBDM Council now accepting applications

We are currently accepting nominations for two parent representatives to serve one year on the School Based Decision Making Council at Butler County High School.  Any parent with a child attending BCHS during the 2012-2013 school year is eligible to run for SBDM.  SBDM representatives are required to attend a training session (six hours for a new member/three hours for an experienced member) and monthly meetings.
