A Gift for Great-Grandma

Devin, Sarah, Brian Smith and Luella Deweese

It was a special Butler County connection that brought a Colorado Springs, Colorado couple to Morgantown Thursday morning to be married. Brian Lane Smith, fiancée Sarah Yeagley and her son Devin chose the lobby of Morgantown Care and Rehab so Brian’s grandmother, Mary Woosley and great-grandmother, Luella Deweese, could attend. Luella is a resident of the facility.

BCHS Band Celebrates 60 Years

Please join us for a celebration of 60 years of Band in Butler County!  Bring your instrument, band pictures and we can blend all the generations of Band members by playing some music together with the current Butler County High School Band on March 15, 2014 from 2:00-5:00pm at the Butler County High  School.  Share some great memories! Once a band member always a band member, hope to see you there.

Butler County Middle School Wins the Regional Bridge Building Championship

On Saturday, March 1st, the 19th annual Regional Bridge Building Competition was held at the WKU Center of Research and Development in Bowling Green.  This year’s competition featured 4 schools and 73 qualifying contestants.  39  students from Butler County Middle School and one 5th grade student entered bridges in the middle school division.

New Liberty Missionary Baptist Church welcomes Bro. Gene Garner as new pastor

His people prayed and He answered.  New Liberty Missionary Baptist of Gilstrap is proud to announce they have a new pastor.  Bro. Gene Garner and wife Patty have already been a blessing to the church.

They have served in the ministry for 32 years.  He has pastored four churches with the support of Patty.  He served as pastor at Hillview in Bowling Green, Mt. Vernon in Morgantown, Barren River in Bowling Green, and most recently at Cherry Hill in Central City.

MES Academic Team is the 2014 District Governor’s Cup Champions

Morgantown Elementary’s Academic Team is the 2014 District Governor’s Cup Champions.  They traveled to Western Elementary on Saturday, March 1st to compete against three other schools:  Western Elementary, Southern Elementary, and North Butler Elementary.  The day consisted of students taking written tests in many academic areas as well as each team competing in a Quick Recall Tournament.  Every event allows opportunities for teams to earn points.  Morgantown Elementary took second place in the Quick Recall event.  The following students tested and placed in the following areas:

News From North Butler Elementary, First Place in Quick Recall

North Butler's Academic Team took first place in Quick Recall at District Governor's Cup.

North Butler's Academic team went to Western Elementary to compete in the District Governor’s Cup.  They received 1st place in Quick Recall and 2nd in over all scores. 

Several placed individually in the written test.  Jordan McCrady placed 3rd in Composition and tied with Nate Henderson for 1st place in Science with Carter Hawkins placed 5th.
