Operation Christmas Child Underway

The idea in a ntshell is to pack a shoe box with school supplies, coloring books, pencils, flip-flops, toothbrushes, washcloths, cars, yo-yo, Slinkys, puppets, doll, teddybears, and hard candy.  Christian literature in native language or dialect will be added as boxes are shipped.  Every shoebox is a gospel opporunity.

Butler County had always supported this effort by Franklin Graham.  These boxes go into countries that are war torn and improverishrf, to children who may not get a Christmas gift. We are a part of that.  This is a great minstry for a Church or Youth Group or Senior Adults.  People of all ages serve together in this outreach of the true meaning of Christmas.

Please pray that God will stir the hearts of many people to support this endeavor.  For strength for the thousands of volunteers who dedicated their time to this worthy cause and for the Lords protection over each shoebox gift as millions are shipped, cleared through customs, and delivered around the world.

Deadline is November 17th.  Call Peggy Drake for more information 270 526-4321 pr 270 791-2678.  Yuo will affect a child's life, perhaps for eternity.

Shoeboxes For Christmas

One hundred million and still counting! That's Shoeboxes! There are 148 countries where shoeboxes have been distributed since 1993.  This ministry began by Franklin Graham is far reaching as shoeboxes are handed out to orphanages, hospitals, refugee camps, slums, churches or places where preaching is forbidden.  This ministry crosses all denominations and everyone is invited to participate.  Since 1999 Butler Countians have sent over 7,625 gifts to underprivileged children around the world.  Many have come to believe in Christ because of a simple shoebox gift.  For some children thiswill be the only gift they have ever received.  Some child may be a Christian because of someone in Butler County.

Perla, age 7, lives on outskirts of Guadalajara, Mexico.  Perla lives in a neighborhood of houses often pieced together from  tin, wood and cardboard.  She received a shoebox last year.  Her favorite item was a toothbrush.  She was invited to join The Greatest Journey classes.  Through these gifts, God is opening doors and the hearts of people. It is easy to pack a shoebox.  Deadline is November 17.  Shoeboxrs can be delivered to Gasper River Assocation Building, Drake's Farm Service, or First Baptist Church.  From these points, they will go to Bowling Green Forrest Park Baptist Church, then on to North Carolina for distribution.  Please pray for the recipient of your shoebox.  Call Peggy Drake at 270 526-4321 or 270 791-2678 for more information.
