Local schools host annual Spelling Bees

NBES Schoolwide Spelling Bee: 1st place - Delaney Daugherty 2nd place - Ethan Cardwell 3rd place - Shelby Parrigan

North Butler Elementary, Morgantown Elementary, and Butler County Middle School held spelling bees at each of the schools.  Overall school winners will compete in the District Spelling Bee on February 11th, at 5:30p.m. at the Butler County Educational Complex.

NBES Schoolwide Spelling Bee:
1st place - Delaney Daugherty- will compete in the District Spelling Bee
2nd place - Ethan Cardwell
3rd place - Shelby Parrigan

Primary Grade Level Winners:
Kindergarten- Angel Proctor
1st Grade- Abbie Smith
2nd Grade- Addison Jones

2015 NJROTC Ice Skating Trip

On the morning of January 19, 2015, thirty-five Butler County High School NJROTC cadets went on an ice skating trip to The Edge in Owensboro.  They were chaperoned by Major Redmond, Chief Melton, Tonia Price, and Melissa Childress.  The cadets left the school at 11:30 a.m. and arrived at The Edge at 12:20 p.m. They skated for four and a half hours, and afterwards went to  Ryan’s Buffet.  The group arrived back at the school at 6:45 p.m. Everyone had a good time and we look forward to our next trip.

2nd District VFD Rook Tournament & Soup Supper

The 2nd District Volunteer Fire Department will have a Rook Tournament and Soup Supper on Saturday, February 7th @ the Fire House. Supper begins at 5:00 p.m. & the Rook Tournament begins at 6:00 p.m. 2nd District Fire Department is located in the Davis Crossroads Community. The Picture Man Shoots Butler County Snow

As the Picture Man drove along in his red Dodge Neon he said it to himself several times “This is the best snow day yet of the season.” He had just passed by Roundhill and turned west on Brownsville Road and the brilliant early morning sun shining on the fresh snow almost brought tears to his eyes.

Blooms & Blessings To Reorganize

Preventing Diabetes Meeting – February 6th

Does diabetes run in your family?  Are you at risk of developing diabetes?  Do you, or someone you know, struggle with diabetes control? 

February is heart month.  It’s also a great time to start making those changes to live more heart-healthy.  Diabetes greatly affects your heart health - having diabetes means having a higher risk of heart attack or stroke.
