State Farm Strapped for Cash Event

State Farm Agent Baker Gardner and staff sponsored a Strapped for Cash Event. Basically, they recognized students for wearing their seat belts. Every student that was wearing their seat belt received cash, t-shirts, or breakfast. This event was to raise seat belt awareness before Prom on the Butler County High School campus.

Crocheted Rag Rug Workshop at Extension Office

Are you interested in learning how to make a crocheted rag rug?  If so, join us for our upcoming Rag Rug Workshop being held on Monday, May 23rd at the Butler County Extension Service at 9 a.m.  Julia Wilson, Edmonson County FCS/4-H Extension Agent, will be teaching the workshop and sharing all the tips and techniques in making this rug.  As a plus, you’ll make your own rug while you’re here!

Butler County Middle School STLP takes home awards at state competition

Hezekiah Pendley won 2nd place for Storytelling.

STLP students from Butler County Middle School attended the State Championship in Lexington on Friday.

 Winners included:

·       Hezekiah Pendley won 2nd place for Storytelling. 
·       Olivia Austin, Jessica Raeuchle, and Raeleigh Parrish placed in the top 50 for their Animal Abuse Awareness Showcase Project.

EKU Colonels stop in Huntsville

Coach Edwin Thompson, Mary Fleming, and Caleb Johnson

The Eastern Kentucky University Baseball Team had dinner on Thursday night in Huntsville, Kentucky, at the home of Jerry and Mary Fleming.

The Colonels were on their way to Austin Peay for a weekend series. Caleb Johnson, a pitcher for EKU, is the son of Todd and Julie (Fleming) Johnson, and the grandson of Mary and Jerry Fleming and Diddle and Sandy Johnson.  Aunts Becki Flener and Diane Lawrence assisted with the meal.
