Butler County High School would like to congratulate junior, Ana Diaz, who was recently selected to participate in the WRECC Frankfort Youth Tour, on April 27.   During the Frankfort Youth tour,  Ana was selected to represent WRECC and Butler County High School, along with other area students, to participate in the WRECC Washington DC Youth tour June 10-17, 2016.

Ana is the daughter of Rey and Michelle Diaz of Morgantown.

Leader of the Week for the week of May 6, 2016 – Jason King

The BCHS Project Prom committee would like to thank the following for their part in making the 2016 BCHS Project Prom successful. Our students had a fun night of playing games and participating in various activities to win money and prizes.  

Beech Tree News is pleased to announce that Dennis Kinkade will be a new columnist beginning tomorrow, Saturday, May 7.  Writing under the heading Phil's Philosophy, Dennis will be writing about a wide range of topics, will include a variety of writing styles, and will seek to engage readers through his observations, reflections and musings.  As always, Phil's Philosophy will feature contributions by his children - Taylor and Drake. 

The month of May comes every year, thank goodness, and with it comes springtime in Kentucky, going barefoot, playing outside again and delicious strawberries around Mother’s Day. What a wonderful treat they were.

Thank you for the calls, cards, visits, flowers and food sent to us during our hospital stay and recovery at home. Your thoughts and prayers have helped us so much in our healing. We are very blessed to have so many friends and a God that loves us all. 

Butler County Drug-Free Community Coalition was recently awarded a federal drug-free communities grant of $125,000 per year for five years. This grant gives us the opportunity to work with our school system, local businesses, law enforcement, Chamber of Commerce, and local churches. With the grant, we were able to appoint a board of directors and 12 sectors within the county. Our board members are Karla Coles- Chairperson, Kaitlin Harrison- Vice Chairperson, Stacha Murphy- Treasurer, and Tiffany Norris- Secretary.
