Big Hearts Little Hats

For the second year the Butler County Knitters and Crocheters group has given little red hats to the Medical Center for the new babies. This was inspired by the Big Hearts Little Hats program started in 2014 by the American Heart Association. Last year we donated 144 hats at the beginning of the month and were dismayed to find out they barely lasted to Valentine’s Day. We had greatly underestimated the number of babies born daily at the Medical Center. This year we sent 40 hats on the 7th of February and 70 on the 14th.

Butler County Farm Bureau celebrates Food Check-Out Week

Morgantown, KY – The cost of food in America remains affordable.  According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Economic Research Service, American consumers spend, on average, just over 10 percent of their disposable income for food.  That means the average household will have earned enough disposable income – that portion of income available for spending or saving – to pay for its annual food supply in about seven weeks, said Kentucky Farm Bureau president Mark Haney.

NJROTC Ice Skating Trip

Hannah Logan, Dalton Lee, Zander Sorrels, Trenton Daugherty, Conner Brown, Austin Burden, Samantha Beatty, Ciara House, Hunter Gates

On January 16th, Martin Luther King Jr. Day Butler County High school went to the Edge Ice Skating rink in Owensboro for a day of fun. It consisted of skating for hours, eating at the concession stand, and lots of socializing. It gave everyone a chance to get to know each other better outside of school. The new cadets also had a chance to talk to upper classmen and people in other classes about the unit. Even Chief Melton went out on the ice to skate. There is no doubt that everyone had a great time and can’t wait for next year’s trip!

Sunday's Child: Josh

Josh (04/01) can bring a smile to your face. He can sing to you, show you the latest dance moves or make you the “World’s Best Kool-Aid”. He can draw you amazing pictures! Josh likes to play football and video games. He does well in school with some assistance. Josh likes to be praised for a job well done and needs encouragement to stay healthy and active. Although Josh fears being rejected, he is brave enough to ask for a forever family. He definitely deserves one!
