Shirley Allen, The Voice of Butler County

Shirley Allen is a name that is well known throughout our county.  Many people recognize her from her faith, her volunteerism, and her work at Morgantown Care and Rehab. With her strong, beautiful vibrato, her voice has also been recognizable as the local emcee for several events within Butler County for years.  For her place in the community this year she was chosen as the Grand Marshall for the 2016 Christmas parade.  On Saturday, December 3rd, Shirley Allen was escorted in the parade by Chaplin Derek Cain in a white Corvette.

Christmas at Morgantown Community Church

Make plans to join us for MCC’s Annual Christmas Eve Candlelight service on Saturday, December 24th at 6pm. This is one of the most special events of the year with singing, a brief teaching, and we conclude by lighting candles and singing Silent Night. This year our Christmas Eve service will serve as our gathering for the week, as we will not meet Sunday, December 25. We hope to see you this Christmas Eve!

Rochester Christmas

Friday night December 2, citizens of Rochester gathered at the Rochester Community Building for their 5th annual Christmas celebration.  They kicked the night off with plenty of soup, chili, drinks and desserts.  After about an hour of food and fellowship, it was time for the kids’ favorite part, Santa!
Santa arrived at around 7:00.  The kids gathered in a circle for an opportunity to sit on Santa’s knee and tell him what they wanted for Christmas.  Some were willing participants; others just weren’t having it. Here are just a few sights from the evening.
