Rockabilly Revival by: Andy Sullivan

Saturday night April 8, I attended Rockabilly Revival: a tribute to the legends of Sun Records.  The show had performances from Elvis(played by Cody Slaughter), Johnny Cash(played by Shawn Barker), Carl Perkins(played by Travis Daggett) and Jerry Lee Lewis(played by Lance Lipinsky).  Lipinsky’s portrayal of Jerry Lee stole the show! Anyone in the audience that night at SKYPAC or anywhere else this crew performed this show will tell you the same.

PROFILE: Collin Coots...picker of fine Bluegrass & Gospel Music

Collin Coots

Collin Coots is a lanky six-footer with the natural confidence of a person that has a grip on life.  The 19-year-old youngster is a Butler County resident who lives in Aberdeen, attends to Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College, holds down a job, and plays some fanciful banjo music. Along with the fiddle, the banjo is the mainstay of Bluegrass and Gospel music, and Collin’s picking and singing will make your feet tap, and your eyes tear up when he plays with his band, The Blue Diamond Band.

EKU College of Science Student of Month: Tristan Elmore

Tristan Elmore was raised in Butler County, KY, a rural county that is not quite half-way-between the cities of Bowling Green and Owensboro. He is pursuing a degree in Wildlife Management.

Tristan chose to attend EKU because EKU has the most elite wildlife management program in the state. He said “If a person looks at Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources staff's educational background, they will realize that many of the staff are EKU wildlife management alumnus.”
