From the Sideline Week #6

The Bears were back home this week and Friday night was a great night for football.  The stands were full, the cheerleaders, band, and the BCMS football players were on hand to support the Bears.  Butler County fell to number one ranked Owensboro Catholic.  Everyone gave a "Big thumbs up for Lane" from the Butler County High School campus.  Here's a look at some of the action "From the sidelines."

Bears, Aces to battle in Morgantown on Friday night

Owensboro Catholic Aces

The familiar green and white will arrive in Morgantown on Friday night and that means a prep football match-up between the #1 ranked Owensboro Catholic Aces (4-0) and the 11th ranked Butler County Bears (4-1).  Catholic was idle last week but has notched wins against Apollo (23-12), Daviess County (28-14), Owensboro (20-7), and South Spencer, IN (24-14).  Butler County suffered its first loss of the season last week at Grayson County. 

BCHS Volleyball Honors Seniors

The Butler County High School Volleyball team honored their six seniors on Monday night.  The Lady Bears hosted the Lady Wildcats of Edmonson County.  Seniors included:


Brooklyn Byrd is the 18 year old granddaughter of Linda Holleman and the niece of Lyndia Higgs.  She has played volleyball for three years.  Her future plans are to attend Lindsey Wilson College and become a child care worker.

Grayson Co. 51 Bears 26

The Bears fell to (4-1) at the hands of the Grayson Co. Cougars by the score of 51-26. Both teams entered the game undefeated, but the Class 5A Cougars running attack was simply too much for the Bears on homecoming night at GCHS.

Congratulations Garrett

Garrett Embry killed this 135 pound, 9 pointer on September 11, 2012. It was his first deer with a bow.  He is the son of Micheal and Jan Embry of Morgantown. Congratulations Garrett!!!

From the Sideline Week #5

A large crowd of Bear fans hit the road on Friday night to support Butler County as they took on the Cougars of Grayson County.  Spirits were high and the sidelines were full.  The Bears fell short, 26-51. This week's "From the Sidelines" features several future Bears and the fans in the stands.

BC Cross-Country is ready to kick off the 2012 running season

Butler County High School Cross-Country Team

The Butler County Cross-Country is ready to kick off the 2012 running season. A large team consisting of 30 runners started training back in July for the upcoming season and they are hoping their hard work will pay off.

Battle of the Unbeatens: Butler vs. Grayson

Grayson County High School

One team's record will remain untarnished after Friday night, while the other will notch its first loss as the Butler County Bears travel to Leitchfield to face the Grayson County Cougars in a prep football match-up.  Though from different classes due to enrollment, the game is still important for both schools and is considered a rivalry.  Both teams are undefeated at 4-0.  Butler County is ranked #9 in latest Associated Press (AP) state ranking in Cla

Bears storm past McLean County 48-6 . . . just before the storm comes!

Butler County football ran its record to 4-0 on the season, remaining undefeated, after dispatching McLean County on Friday night 48-6 in a game shortened by threatening weather.  McLean remains winless, dropping to 0-4 on the season.

Bear Run 2012

The 6th Annual Bear Run was held at the City Park on Saturday, September 8th. Despite adverse weather conditions, it was still a great success.  The numbers were up from last year, with 235 paid registrations, and 159 people completing the race. The race left from the park and made a route through Morgantown before looping behind the middle school and back to the park.
