BCMS Cheerleaders wrap competition season…

The Butler County Middle School cheerleaders traveled to Warren Central to compete in the Cheer Mania competition. There were many squads in attendance. BCMS swept their division with first place. This win puts them undefeated for the past 7 years in local competitions.

BC Girls' Softball League Sign-Ups

The Butler County Girls Softball will be holding sign-up at Morgantown McDonalds on the following dates:

Saturday, February 22 from 9am to 1pm
Tuesday, February 25 from 5pm to 7pm
Saturday, March 1 from 9am to 1pm.

We are planning on having two separate age groups: 5-8 year olds and 9-12 year olds. Cost: $50.00 for first, each additional sibling is $30.00 each. Feel free to stop by to ask questions or sign up your girls.

BG Hotrods' New Owners Make Several Changes

Butler County baseball fans who visit the Bowling Green Hotrods Baseball stadium this coming year will treated to the start of a funner experience.  At a Media Event held this past Monday were the formal introduction of the new owners, new General Manager, funner experiences coming, current and proposed upgrades, renovations and facelift of the Stadium. The new owners are Manhattan Capital Sports Acquisition, headed by Stuart Katzoff. Stuart, along with Indiana Pacers Owner Herb Simon and his father Jerry Katzoff also own the Triple-A Reno Aces in the Pacific Coast League.

Gaskey invests in winning season.

Before heading home for Winter Break, junior pitcher CheyAnne Gaskey and the rest of the Racer softball team received a focus word for the upcoming season: Invested.

Prior to the start of each season, second-year Head Coach Kara Amundson and her coaching staff pick a word for their team to focus on. Last year, the word was fearless.

Butler County Little League Meeting & Sign Ups

Butler County Little League will be having a meeting on Thursday, February 20, 2014, at 6:00 p.m. at Morgantown Elementary School Cafeteria.  All parents are encouraged to attend.  Sign-ups will also be held that night.
 
Fees are for ages 5—12 (as of May 1, 2014) are:
 
$50.00 for Jr. Rookie, Rookie and Minors
$65.00 for Majors (ages 11-12)

Please bring a copy of child’s birth certificate.  If you do not sign up by March 1, 2014, then a $15.00 late fee will be charged.

Lady Bears fall to Edmonson 64-49

The Butler County Lady Bears ( 7-13 overall, 2-3 district) hosted the Edmonson County Lady Cats (15-5 overall, 4-1 district) on Saturday afternoon in their first district match up.  Edmonson County defeated Butler County 64-49.

Bears, Lady Bears fall at Grayson

12th District basketball standings got a little more complicated on Friday night as both Butler County teams fell to host Grayson County in a boy-girl doubleheader.  The Lady Bears fell 52-40 in the opening game in what was a reasonably close game throughout, while the Bears found themselves in a significant hole early before losing 75-58.

Lady Bears split with East; fall to McLean

The Butler County Lady Bears had a tough week of basketball playing four games and picking up one win.  On Monday night the Lady Bears easily took care of the Warren East Lady Raiders 57-28.  Butler County jumped out to a 14-2 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. The Lady Bears extended the led to 32-12 at the half. Free throws played a major role in the game as Butler County scored 29 points from the line.  Coach Christy Clark was able to empty the bench and eleven Lady Bears made it into the score book.
