Bears' Softball opens season 2-0 with wins over Russellville & Owensboro

Butler County's offense proved too much for Rusellville on Monday night in 13-3 rout in Morgantown.  Russellville scored the first run of the game but the Bears roard back to capture the lead and take control of the game.  Eight runs in the first three innings allowed the Butler County to put the game away early.

BCHS Tennis: Boys 4-0, Girls 3-1

Butler County’s Tennis Team began play last week.  Both boy’s and girl’s teams started in dominating fashion.  The first week of the season ended with both teams being 2 – 0 with impressive wins over Ohio and Hart counties.  This week’s play has seen the team take to the road for their first away match at South Warren.  The boys once again dominated and took the win 4-1.  The girl’s had somewhat of a struggle and came up a little short.  Tuesday’s match was at home against Warren Central.  Both teams got it together once again and took total control, coming away with wins.

Butler County Softball hoping to regroup, rebuild for 2014 season

The 2014 softball season gets underway today as the Butler County Bears are set to take the field against Russellville.  Butler County is coming off a 22-14 campaign where they finished runner-up in the 12th District Tournament, advancing to the Third Region Tournament for the sixth straight year.
The Bears lost four players to graduation - all starters:  Pitcher Morgan Manning, shortstop Madeline Drake, left-fielder Jazmin Reynolds, and center-fielder Payton Grubb.  Manning and Drake are playing college softball at Brescia Univesity in Owensboro.

Baseball & Softball Passes

Baseball and softball passes are on sale at Butler County High School front office.  Passess are $40 for adults and $15 for students.  Passes are good for all home baseball and softball events.

Bears Fall To Eagles In Regional Tournament

After a two-day delay due to snow, the Butler County High School Bears travelled to Owensboro on Friday night for the opening round of the 3rd Region Tournament. The trip made it three years in a row that the Bears had made it to the regional tourney. The Bears lost in the first round to the Green Wave of Meade County after the 2011-12 season, and fell last season to Owensboro Catholic in opening round play.

Johnson Picks Up Win for EKU

Freshman Caleb Johnson tossed 6-plus strong innings to lead the Eastern Kentucky University baseball team to an 8-5 win over preseason Ohio Valley Conference favorite Tennessee Tech in the series finale on Sunday.

Johnson (1-0), making his second collegiate start, turned in his first career quality start. He allowed one run on five hits in six and two-thirds innings. Johnson walked one and struck out one.

On February 21st, Eastern Kentucky stayed close to No. 5 South Carolina, but lost 4-0 on Friday in the opener of the three-game series.

Jr. Pro Basketball Wraps Up Year

North Butler's 1st and 2nd Grade Team

 Another year of Jr. Pro Basketball is in the books.  1st and 2nd grade Jr. Pro finished at NBES last weekend with an awards presentation at the end of their game. 

3rd through 6th grade teams finished their season with a single elimination tournament this past weekend at MES.  After several rounds of play and some good competition, the championship games were set.

Morgantown Elementary 5/6 Grade Team

The Butler County Jr. Pro Basketball program has finished another great year.  Teams from North Butler Elementary and Morgantown Elementary competed from kindergarten thru sixth grade. Cody Donaldson, Jr. Pro coordinator, was pleased with this years’ competitive play and improvement shown by each player. Meet the teams....

Bears: Back to Back District Titles

The gym was full of fans clad in the school colors of Butler County High School and Grayson County High School on Friday night for the 12th District Tournament Championship Game. BCHS won their way to the championship game with a victory over Edmonson County on Tuesday night. Grayson County earned their title game berth by beating Whitesville Trinity High School in opening round play on Tuesday. BCHS and GCHS split their regular season games, with each team winning on their home court.
