Fatal Accident on Woodbury Loop

On May 21 at approximately 10:13 am, the Butler County Sheriff's Department was dispatched to a single-vehicle accident on Woodbury Loop Road. Deputy Trey Flener arrived on the scene to find a 2008 Honda Accord in the middle of the road in front of the residence of 5289 Woodbury Loop. The driver, Jennifer M. Johnson (DOB 9/25/85) of 214 E. Morrison Street, Morgantown, had been ejected from the vehicle and came to final rest approximately 48 feet off the left side of the roadway.

Probation Revoked

On May 17, 2024, Richie Bratcher appeared in Butler Circuit Court on the charge of violating the terms and conditions of probation when he had electronic communication with a minor child. The Court found that Bratcher cannot be effectively managed/supervised in the community and is a significant risk to the community. The Court revoked his probation, and he was remanded into the custody of the Butler County Jailer for transportation to a state facility to serve the remainder of his five-year sentence.

Class of 2024 Bids Farewell to BCHS

The familiar sounds of Pomp and Circumstance filled the air on Friday night, May 17, as the class of 2024 processed into the Butler County High School Gym. Excitement grew as the 128 graduates filed in, escorted by the top 18 juniors in the class of 2025.  After an introduction by Addison Miller, the BCHS NJROTC Color Guard gave the presentation of colors, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance by Noe Pablo Gregorio.

2024 LTC CONNECT Educational Scholarship Winners Announced

Flener signs proclamation recognizing firefighters

Attending the signing at the courthouse were: Left to right, PVA Kenny Swift; Butler County DAR member Deborah Taylor Givens; County Clerk Sherry Embry Johnson; Judge Flener; Morgantown VFD Chief Brian Hope; and Deputy Sheriff Joe Alford.

Firefighters in Butler County will be recognized throughout the month of May following a signing Wednesday, May 1, by Judge-Executive Timothy Flener in honor of International Firefighters’ Day on Saturday, May 4.

International Firefighters’ Day takes place annually on the first Saturday in May. It was started in 1999 in Australia by firefighter J.J. Edmondson following the deaths of five volunteers fighting a wildfire and has since been adopted in communities around the world. This is the second year Butler County will be observing IFFD.
