WLBQ "Catfish" stolen from roof of the station

At approximately 10:06 p.m. on Friday, June 21, five individuals (two females and three males) apparently climbed up on the roof of WLBQ in Morgantown , cut down the "stringer" of stuffed catfish that the station uses for decoration during the Green River Catfish Festival and Independence Day holiday, and took one of the catfish.

Cannabis users are at increased risk of severe Covid, study finds

Use of cannabis, commonly called marijuana, is linked to increased risk of serious illness for those with Covid-19. So says a study in the American Medical Association journal JAMA Network Open by researchers at the Washington University in St. Louis.

County OKs contract with Friends of BC Animals; "celebration" money awarded

Magistrate Dillon Bryant presented his "celebration" money to the Gilstrap Community Center for repairs.  Ruth Kiper accepted the money on behalf of the center.

Butler County Fiscal Court met at the courthouse on Monday, June 24. All magistrates attended: Stevie Givens (1st District), Kevin Phelps (2nd District), Allen Smith (3rd District), David Whittinghill (4th District), and Dillon Bryant (5th District).

Morgantown Utilities Rate Increase

Morgantown Utilities will increase water and natural gas rates effective July 1, 2024 billing.  Natural gas rates will increase 3 percent, water rates will increase 3 percent.

Morgantown Utilities is committed to providing affordable utility services to all our customers. At this time, with the cost of day-to-day operations rising, this rate increase is necessary to help offset the rising cost of providing our customers with services.
