Burglary on Huntsville Quality Road

The Butler County Sheriff's Department was called to 8385 Huntsville Quality Road on Sunday to investigate a burglary.  According to Deputy Justin Deweese, home owner Joe Porter reported several items missing from his garage. 

"Someone entered through a set of sliding doors sometime between Saturday evening and Sunday morning," said Deweese. 

Items taken included power tools, hand tools, a jigsaw, and an upright car battery charger.  The burglary is under investigation.  Anyone having any information should contact the Butler County Sheriff's Office at 270 526-3676.

Two Killed in a Motorcycle Collision in Warren County

On Monday, April 29, 2013, at 2:44 A.M., Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green was contacted by the Bowling Green Police Department and was asked to respond to Ewing Ford Road regarding a two person fatal collision.

Art Mural video revealed at BCAG meeting

The Butler County Arts Guild met last Thursday night at the Eva J. Hawes Building.  According to the agenda several items were discussed. The next meeting of BCAG is scheduled for Thursday, May 30, 6:00pm at The Eva J. Hawes building located in the Charles Black City Park in Morgantown. Anyone with creative ideas for our community or those simply interested in promoting our community are encouraged to be a part! 
 

UPDATE: Landfill on Hwy 231, is Dunbar Coal Rd next? NO, Permit Denied

UPDATE: There will not be a Less-Than-One Acre Construction Demolition Debris Landfill on Dunbar Coal Road.  The Kentucky Division of Waste Management (DWM), Solid Waste Branch has performed a review of the Kenway Construction‘s application and denied the permit.

County, Jail staff named in lawsuit

The county of Butler, and Terry Fugate, Kelli Fugate, Rocky Tyree and Tessa Fugate, all individually, have been sued by Denise Johnson in connection with the death of Clifford Dewayne Johnson while he was lodged in the Butler County Jail.  The lawsuit was filed in United States District Court on April 17, 2013.  Johnson died December 9, 2012, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green after being transported there by Butler County EMS on December 8.

UPDATE: Jason Britt Arrested for Manslaughter in Warren Co.

4/26/13 UPDATE: Jason E. Britt pled guilty on Monday to causing the death of a Butler County man with a crossbow last October.  Britt entered a guilty plea in Warren Circuit Court to a charge of second degree manslaughter in the death of Ronnie Lee of O. J.

Morgantown Care and Rehab Volunteer Awards Ceremony

A splendid year has been had by the Morgantown Care and Rehab Volunteer Program! A record 37 medalists from the Presidential Awards exceeded and goal that may have been set. Varying age groups required different numbers of hours for recognition. There were 4 gold medalists, 13 silver, and 20 bronze recipients. We are so proud of these and other folks who have contributed.

Good food, a business questionnaire, new chamber members and remaining festival sponsorships were some highlights of the April chamber luncheon held Thursday at the Cooperative Extension office. Food this month was supplied by Banock OES.

BC Rural Development: Celebrating the Past, Looking to the Future

 Betty Farris of Reedyville Rural Development accepts the 2012 "Mike Duff Outstanding Club Award" at last year's Rural Development Annual Meeting.

The Butler County Rural Development Association has been impacting the lives of Butler County citizens since 1957.  The concept of the Rural Development Program was that people working together could accomplish much more than working as a bunch of individuals.  The concept proved to be true and it continues to be true today.
