City of Morgantown and Chad Johnson Defendants In Missing Candy Case

The City of Morgantown and Chad Johnson are defendants in a civil action suit by Marten Transport, LTD, over missing candy from an accident on the Natcher Parkway over a year ago.

Josh Moore Ride Comes to Morgantown

The Josh Moore and Fallen Heroes Ride came through Morgantown on Saturday, May 12. It was a motorcycle and car ride in honor of Josh Moore and all Fallen Heroes of the war. Josh was killed in  May of 2007 in Baghdad when his HumVee ran over an IED. This was the 6th annual ride in honor of him with all proceeds going into a scholarship fund for Logan County High School in Josh Moore's name.

Should the freshmen class of 2012-2013 be on a block schedule( four one and a half hour classes) or a seven-period day( seven 45-minute classes)? That was the debate in a called meeting of the Butler County High School Site-Based Decision Making Council on Thursday, May 10.

Morgantown men wreck stolen vehicle

Christopher Allen Oaks, 19, and Tyler Dewayne Oaks, 20, both of Morgantown were arrested on Wednesday morning and charged with receiving stolen property ($10,000 or more),  public intoxication controlled substance, criminal mischief first- degree, leaving the scene of an accident/fail to render, fleeing or evading police second-degree, possession of a controlled substance- first offense, and possession of a controlled substance 3rd.

Caution: Bridge Work on KY Hwy 185

Motorists traveling on KY 185 in north Warren County next week in the vicinity of Ivy Creek Bridge should be prepared to stop.

Temporary traffic signals will be installed on either end of the bridge on Monday, May 14 at 8 am and will remain in place until the work is completed. The temporary signals will be on timers and will provide traffic control for both directions of KY 185.

Traffic will be pushed down to one lane between mile markers 11.0 and 11.02 while crews make repairs to the bridge. This work zone is located near the Warren/Butler County line.

BC SCHOOLS: Extended days cut, Daugherty to retire, and Moore steps down

NBES Principal Elaine Daugherty prepares to retire.

The Butler County Board of Education held their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday night at Butler County High School.  Superintendent Scott Howard announced the upcoming retirement of North Butler Elementary Principal Elaine Daugherty.  After 34 years of service Mrs. Daugherty will official retire July 1. 

Howard also announced that First District School Board member Greg Moore will step down after the June meeting.  Moore has finished his degree in education and plans to pursue a teaching career.

METH: Lab Discovered at "Easy Way" residence

Around 6:00 pm on Monday night a one-step active meth lab was found and destroyed by the Butler County Sheriff’s Department.  After receiving a call from dispatch, Deputy Bobbie Hooten went to a residence on Easy Way in Morgantown, Kentucky.  Ernest Drummer, 42, (who was currently wanted by another police agency) was standing in the door.

Former, current choir students honor retiring Darryl Dockery at "Big Blue Review"

The Butler County High School Choir presented its Big Blue Review and spring concert on Sunday, May 6 at Morgantown Community Church.  It was a special event as students from past and present came out to honor Mr. Darryl Dockery ,who will be retiring this year after 28 years of service in education.
