Dollar General Market Now Open

The Dollar General Market in Morgantown is open.  The doors opened at 7:00am on Friday morning and they have been busy.  The Grand Opening will be held on May 17th.  According to manager Rob Wilkins the store will be open from 7:00am until 10:00pm seven days a week. 
“We are excited to be in Morgantown.  We are still looking to hire 10 to 15 more people,” said Wilkins.

WKU to recognize first graduates of Doctor of Nursing Practice

The first graduates of WKU’s Doctor of Nursing Practice program will be recognized during Commencement activities May 16.

The first cohort of nine students will complete their degrees this spring or summer.

Butler County Grand Jury Indictments

The Butler County Grand Jury returned indictments against 19 individuals on April 30, 2014. Charges include sexual abuse, rape, sodomy, drug trafficking, burglary, and theft. Arraignments have been set for May 13, 2014.

Notice for Parents of Preschoolers 2014-15 Changes

ATTENTION PARENTS OF CHILDREN ENROLLING IN STATE FUNDED PRESCHOOL at MORGANTOWN or NORTH BUTLER ELEMENTARIES for 2014/2015

**As a Result of House Bill 235, passed recently in the legislature, minimum age requirements for enrolling in the Kentucky State Funded Preschool Program have changed.  Beginning Monday, May 5, any child wishing to enroll in the upcoming school year in preschool must be four years old by August 1, 2014. Any child that has already been registered by Friday, May 2, will not be affected.

Butler County Fiscal Court met in special session on Monday night, April 28th, with all members present. The Court dealt with a short agenda.

Gina Tynes from Hocker Family Insurance presented the Court with employee health insurance rates for the upcoming fiscal year. Tynes brought the squires a proposal that increased premiums by only 6%. Due to changes caused by the Affordable Care Act and inflation, the 6% increase is good according to Tynes. The Court unanimously accepted the new rates.

Morgantown Care and Rehabilitation Center to host National Day of Prayer event.

Morgantown Care and Rehabilitation Center will host an event on Thursday, May 1, at 10:30 a.m. to celebrate the National Day of Prayer.
The National Day of Prayer is held each year on the first Thursday in May. A law was enacted in 1952 formalizing observance of the day, although its origins trace back to 1775, when the first Continental Congress called for a National Day of Prayer and melding the relationship between government and the blessings of God.

Meth Found On Sawmill Road

Autumn S. Davis

A drug arrest resulted from an ongoing investigation in Morgantown.  Autumn S. Davis (DOB 3/21/89) of 305 Dave Gaskey Lane, Morgantown was arrest on April 27.  Davis was at 211 Sawmill Road when police, Butler County Sheriff Deputy Chris Reneer and Morgantown Police Officer Brian Ward, came to the home.  The owner of the residence gave verbal consent to a search.
