County, Jail staff named in lawsuit

The county of Butler, and Terry Fugate, Kelli Fugate, Rocky Tyree and Tessa Fugate, all individually, have been sued by Denise Johnson in connection with the death of Clifford Dewayne Johnson while he was lodged in the Butler County Jail.  The lawsuit was filed in United States District Court on April 17, 2013.  Johnson died December 9, 2012, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green after being transported there by Butler County EMS on December 8.

UPDATE: Jason Britt Arrested for Manslaughter in Warren Co.

4/26/13 UPDATE: Jason E. Britt pled guilty on Monday to causing the death of a Butler County man with a crossbow last October.  Britt entered a guilty plea in Warren Circuit Court to a charge of second degree manslaughter in the death of Ronnie Lee of O. J.

Morgantown Care and Rehab Volunteer Awards Ceremony

A splendid year has been had by the Morgantown Care and Rehab Volunteer Program! A record 37 medalists from the Presidential Awards exceeded and goal that may have been set. Varying age groups required different numbers of hours for recognition. There were 4 gold medalists, 13 silver, and 20 bronze recipients. We are so proud of these and other folks who have contributed.

BC Rural Development: Celebrating the Past, Looking to the Future

 Betty Farris of Reedyville Rural Development accepts the 2012 "Mike Duff Outstanding Club Award" at last year's Rural Development Annual Meeting.

The Butler County Rural Development Association has been impacting the lives of Butler County citizens since 1957.  The concept of the Rural Development Program was that people working together could accomplish much more than working as a bunch of individuals.  The concept proved to be true and it continues to be true today.

Asphalt rehab projects awarded for counties across the state, including Butler

More than $27 million in asphalt rehabilitation projects have been awarded by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet as the spring construction season gets underway.

The first asphalt projects of the season are distributed over 45 counties.

 “Maintaining our roadways is one of the most important responsibilities of the Transportation Cabinet,” Kentucky Transportation Secretary Mike Hancock said. “Well-maintained roads are safer for motorists. They’re also important for economic development and community growth.”

Elmore, Johnson, Hampton and Jarboe Named Governor's Scholars

Tyler Johnson, Tristan Elmore, Chanda Hampton, and Kayley Jarboe.

Juniors Tristan Elmore, Tyler Johnson, Chanda Hampton, and Kayley Jarboe were selected to the prestigious Governor’s Scholars Program this week.  The Governor’s Scholars Program was established in 1983 with the goal to enhance the academic and personal growth of Kentucky’s future leaders.  The Butler County Students underwent a very long application process.  The GSP Application focuses on academic achievement, community service, honors, and awards.  The application also contains a leadership project and an essay.  Students also required two recommendations from teachers within their school
