Woodbury City Hall destroyed by fire

photos and story by Joe Morris

City Hall in Woodbury was destroyed by fire in the early hours of Friday morning. A line of heavy thunderstorms was passing through the area at the time of the fire, and it is believed the lightning caused the blaze.

The building was initially constructed in the early 1900s and served as part of a warehouse for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. In recent years, the building has been used as a City Hall and a de facto community center for Woodbury residents. It was also the site of the former Woodbury Voting Precinct.
