Deputy Jailer Assaulted

On April 13, 2025, The Morgantown Police responded to the Butler County Jail about an inmate who had assaulted a Deputy Jailer. Through the investigation, it was determined that Charles Clayton, age 26, of Russellville, had placed a Deputy Jailer in a chokehold, threatened to stab him, and demanded the keys to the Jail's door in an attempt to escape. A trustee at the Jail witnessed the incident and physically attacked Clayton to release the Deputy Jailer.

Coleman applauds Trump’s move for coal industry

FRANKFORT – Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman is praising President Trump’s signing of an executive order to prevent the closing of coal-fired power plants to meet the rising demand for electricity and directed federal agencies to rescind policies from the Biden Administration that sought to move away from coal production.

Woodbury City Hall destroyed by fire

City Hall in Woodbury was destroyed by fire in the early hours of Friday morning. A line of heavy thunderstorms was passing through the area at the time of the fire, and it is believed the lightning caused the blaze.

The building was initially constructed in the early 1900s and served as part of a warehouse for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. In recent years, the building has been used as a City Hall and a de facto community center for Woodbury residents. It was also the site of the former Woodbury Voting Precinct.

WARREN RECC RESPONDS TO SPRING STORM

April 3, 2025 (Bowling Green, KY) Severe storms passing through the area last night caused widespread power outages. Strong winds caused numerous broken poles and downed power lines throughout the Warren RECC territory. At the height of last night’s storm, approximately 7,000 members were without power. As of 8:45 a.m. CDT, we have approximately 500 members without power and 23 broken poles.
