Execution of Search Warrants on "Vape Shops"

After numerous complaints were received by the Drug Task Force (DTF), Bowling Green Police Department, Kentucky State Police and the Warren County Sheriff’s Office the DTF begin an investigation into “Vape Shops” selling marijuana products. Many of these complaints were from parents and concerned citizens about Vape Shops selling to minors as young as 13.

Detectives made purchases from the three stores listed below about two months ago.  The plant material purchased was tested by the Kentucky State Police Laboratory and found to be marijuana.  It was then sent to a specialized laboratory to quantify the THC content of the plant material.

The products tested between 18.1% and 29.8% THC depending on the product sample. For the product to be legal for sale in a Vape/Tabacco Shop it cannot exceed .3% THC according to state law KRS260 or federal law 7 USC 1639.

This information was presented to the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office. Search warrants were issues for the stores below. These warrants were served simultaneity, April 1, 2025 at 9AM by DTF detectives with assistance from Bowling Green Police Department, Kentucky State Police and the Warren County Sheriff’s Office on the stores listed below.

Smoke & Vape, 651 31W Bypass-Seized: Approximately 60 pounds of marijuana and 15,600 rolled marijuana “blunts”.

Smoke & Vape Superstore, 2714 Scottsville Rd-Seized: Approximately 54 pounds of marijuana and 5,400 rolled marijuana “blunts”.

Smoke Department, 1337 US 31W Bypass-Seized: 2 pounds of marijuana and a handgun.

The entire investigation results will be turned over to the Commonwealth Attorney for presentation to the Warren County Grand Jury in the near future.  Samples of the products seized yesterday will again be tested for THC content.

"We hope the 37 Vape/Tobacco Shops in Bowling Green and Warren County take notice that trafficking in marijuana is illegal and will be enforced in our community," said Drug Task Force Officials.
