Morgantown Bank & Trust Plans New Drive-Thru

Morgantown Bank & Trust’s President and CEO, Tom Jones today announced plans for the addition of a new drive thru facility. The new facility will be attached to the current Data Processing center across from the main office.

The contract for the facility which will consist of three lanes as well as a pass thru lane has been awarded to local contractor, Coleman Contracting Inc.

Comer to visit Morgantown

James Comer, Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture and Republican candidate for governor in 2015, will be in Morgantown on Monday, December 1, for a Meet & Greet fundraiser.  A native of Tompkinsville, Kentucky was elected Kentucky's Commissioner of Agriculture in 2011.  The event is being hosted by Jeff Jennings.  The keynote speaker will be State Representative Jim Decesare (R-Bowling Green).  The fundraiser will be held at the Eva J. Hawes Building in Morgantown form 5 to 7 p.m.

Style With A Smile held their grand opening on November 18th, formerly Marcie's Beauty Boutique, located at 168 Logansport Road, Suite 3.  Owner, Courtney White offers a wide range of services including: haircuts, perms, waxing, color, high-lights, and roller sets.
Winners of free haircuts during the grand opening were Tammy Zlater, Maxine Smith, and Donna McCoy.

WLBQ Radio Auction Nets $10K for Boys & Girls Club

Commonwealth Attorney Tim Coleman and Tom Jones, president MB&T, on the airwaves.

The annual WLBQ radio auction to support the Boys and Girls Club of Butler County was held on Saturday, November 22.  The event was hosted by Morgantown Bank and Trust through the use of their facility and the airways of "The New Q" - WLBQ 101.5 FM.
According to Bruce White, director of the Boys & Girls Club, this year's radio auction was the best one to date.
“The auction netted $9,514 and an anonymous donor added $486, bringing the grand total to $10,000,” said White.

Wreck on Brownsville Rd Knocks Electric Out

A wreck on Hwy. 70 Brownsville Road on Sunday evening shut down the power from the intersection of Hwy. 79 and 70 to Hwy 185 in Butler County.  Shortly after 5:00pm a van traveling west on Hwy 70 left the road and struck a utility pole, downing both electric and phone lines, east of the Logan Hunt Road. The male driver and an infant were removed from the van and transported to the Medical Center in Bowling Green.( Names have not been released.) Warren RECC was on the scene and anticipated the electric to be off for 2 to 3 hours, as they had to replace the pole.

North Butler Fall Festival a huge success

Scores of parents and children filled the halls of North Butler Elementary last night, Friday, November 21, as the school hosted its annual fall festival.  In the planning stages since at least the beginning of the school year, the festival is organized by and serves as the primary fundraiser for the North Butler Elementary (N.B.E.) Parent-Teacher Organization (P.T.O.).

Butler County Operation Christmas Toys for Tots 2014

Once again the Butler County Family Resource and Youth Services Centers and the Morgantown Mission are asking for your help to provide Christmas Toys for Butler County Children.  Anyone wishing to make a monetary donation can make their checks to BC FRC Christmas Fund and mail to PO Box 728, Morgantown.  Toy donations can be dropped off at any of the 3 locations or any Toys for Tots box in town.

Whitfield Opposes Obama's Executive Amnesty for Illegal Immigrants

WASHINGTON, DC –  U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield, (KY-01), Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Energy and Power, issued the following statement  on the president's immigration announcement expected Thursday evening:

“In a direct affront to the message the American people sent us on November 4th, President Obama continues to make unilateral decisions that assault the very fiber of America and our Constitution. Unless this President changes his approach to addressing our country’s immigration problems, the situation at our borders will only get worse.
