Warren RECC’s Annual Christmas Open House

Warren RECC’s Annual Christmas Open House program is coming to Morgantown. The event will be held Thursday, November 21st from 3-6 p.m. at the Eva Hawes Building, located in the Morgantown City Park. You are invited to attend this free program, which will entice your creative spirit and provide ideas for holiday décor, cooking, and crafts. Free refreshments will be served. Everyone attending will receive a copy of Warren RECC’s new recipe book and a limited edition holiday gift.

Butler County Foster Grandparents Honored

Butler County Foster Grandparents Barbara Poole, Wanda Johnson, Barbara Reeves and Bonnie Tuck were recently honored for their years of service as Foster Grandparents in Butler County Schools.  Pictured with them are Cheryl Allen, Community Action CEO and Community Action Board Chairman Logan County Judge Executive Logan Chick.

Veterans honored at MES

On November 11, Morgantown Elementary held its  annual Veteran's Day program  under the direction of Mrs. JoLynn Reed, Primary  Counselor.  The program began with posting of the colors by the Butler County High School NJROTC, and the singing of the National Anthem by Ms. Tammy Young.

Radio-thon Donations Top $5,000 for Morgantown Mission's Holiday Food Drive

Butler County Middle School 6th teachers and staff collected money for the Mission.

When neighbors are in need Butler Countians answer the call. That proved to be true once again on Friday, November 8th when the 2nd Annual Morgantown Mission Radio-thon hit the airwaves to raise money to feed needy families in Butler County.

VFW Ladies Auxiliary "Walls of Honor"

The groundbreaking for the Walls of Honor was held in May of 2013 and on Saturday the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5837 Ladies Auxiliary held the dedication ceremony.  President of the Auxiliary, Lynda Knight welcomed a large group of veterans, family, and friends to the courthouse lawn.  Young and old alike touched, took pictures, and traced the bricks of loved ones on the Walls.

Cook and McCoy Named Butler Co. Chapter DAR Veterans of the Year

The Butler County Chapter DAR held their Annual Veterans' Breakfast on Saturday morning, November 9 at the Butler County High School.  Regent Jane Eaton-Henderson welcomed the large group of veterans, family, and friends.  Lois Russ, flag chairman, led the pledge and Chaplin Linda Wood gave the invocation.  After breakfast Jennifer Odle recognized the 2013 Veterans of the Year, William L. “Bill” Cook and Presley B. “Pres” McCoy.

Supreme Court Rulings in 2013 Reaching Into City Buildings and Courthouses

Many times those of us in the legislature and our colleagues serving at the local level find ourselves confronted with what appear to be bizarre situations, often times created by court action somewhere else in the country that has broad reaching impact and consequences.  In the upcoming term of the United States Supreme Court there are a few cases on the docket which have the potential to impact state and local government in ways none us of would have considered, resulting from actions taken by others far beyond our borders.

VFW Post 5837 Ladies Auxiliary Declares November 9-15 “Buddy Poppy Week”

Buddy Poppy and Youth chairman, Jane Eaton-Henderson visited the courthouse on Thursday November 7   have a proclamation signed by  David Fields, County Judge Executive and Linda Keown, Mayor of Morgantown. Declaring November 9 - 15 “Buddy Poppy” week in honor of our  Veterans.  The proclamation asks: all Butler County citizens to remember, honor and thank a veteran for his or her service, at home or abroad, to insure our freedoms during this week of honor. It is so easy to forget what these men and women past, present, and sadly, future have given up for our freedoms.

VFW Ladies Auxiliary "Walls of Honor" Dedication

Early stages of the project.

The Ladies Auxiliary Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5837 will dedicate the new "Walls of Honor" Veterans Memorial on November 9, 2013. The program will begin at 11:30  AM at the Butler County Court House. In case of rain we will move to the Court room on the second floor of the court house. The walls contain over 600 names with more bricks ordered.

Morgantown Bank & Trust's School Spirit Card Program Contributes Over $2,200 to BC Schools in 3rd Qtr.

Morgantown Bank & Trust presented checks to multiple schools and programs totaling $2,284.99 for the second donation from the bank’s school spirit card program.  This is the 3rd quarter of the new promotion and the year to date donations are nearing $5,000.  The program continues to grow and future donations are expected in increase.
