BC Farm Bureau recognized for outstanding membership and program achievement

Annis and Rice featured in KY Farm Bureau's “Science in Agriculture” displays

Kobe Annis and Sam Rice

Two Butler County fifth graders, Kobe Annis and Sam Rice, were among the 12 students selected from across the state to display their agriculture science projects at this week’s Kentucky Farm Bureau annual meeting in Louisville.

Annis, a student at North Butler Elementary School, and Rice, a student at Morgantown Elementary School, co-created their project, “Water in Our World.” Their display examined the water cycle’s continuous flow and the amount of water used in agricultural products.

Arts Guild to Host Holiday Event Friday

Tis’ the season! This Friday, December 6 the Butler County Arts Guild is hosting the Celebration of Lights and Sounds 6:30-8:30 PM at the community mural on the Morgantown Square.  Barring potential bad weather, the event is set to feature a tree lighting, performances by members of the Butler County High School Band & Choir, holiday art, free hot chocolate & coffee, traditional Christmas carols, warm fires and possibly a visit from Santa himself!

Morgantown Misson Summary of Activities

We are blessed to be supported by the postal employees, various school classes and organizations, many Churches, giving individuals, and various community organizations. Many in Butler County would be very negatively affected without this help to keep us supplied with needed resources. Please keep in mind, we are NOT affiliated with government funding. Reception for W. Scott Ramsey

Warren RECC will host a meet and greet reception for W. Scott Ramsey, the Cooperative’s new Chief Executive Office (CEO).  Warren RECC members will have the opportunity to meet and speak with Ramsey, a native of Union County, Kentucky, who has nearly 30 years of experience in the electric power industry.  Ramsey is only the sixth person in the Cooperative’s 75 year history to serve in this capacity.

New Diversion Will Open on US 231 in Butler County on Friday, Nov. 29

 A new diversion will open on US 231 in Butler County on Friday, Nov. 29. The widening project of US 231 from mile point 9 (Natcher Parkway) to mile point 11 (KY 403) will continue, but motorists need to be aware of the new diversion. Lane restrictions will begin at 7 a.m. and may continue throughout the day until 5 p.m. Motorists need to slow down and use caution when traveling through the area. The speed limit is 35mph.

Morgantown Mission distributes over 100 holiday meals as part of WLBQ Radio-thon

A holiday food box.

The Morgantown Mission gave away over 100 food boxes for Thanksgiving on Monday, November 25th. On November 8th the second Annual Morgantown Mission Radio-thon on WLBQ 1570 AM raised over $5,000 for the holiday food boxes.  Morgantown Mission director Garry McKinney picked up the turkeys on Monday morning and families were waiting in the parking lot for their boxes.

NBES Receives A Grant From Macy's to Perform "Yes, Virginia The Musical"

This holiday season, North Butler Elementary will stage a performance of “Yes, Virginia The Musical,” an original production based on a true story of 8-year-old Virginia O’Hanlon, who wrote a letter to the New York Sun newspaper in 1897, inquiring about the existence of Santa Claus. The school musical program debuted last year as part of Macy’s holiday “Believe” campaign and was performed by elementary and middle schools nationwide.
