Fiscal Court receives clerk's final settlement; hears report on economic development

In addition to passing the first reading of a Right to Work ordinance on Monday night, Butler County Fiscal Court received the last settlement from former Butler County Clerk Shirley E. Givens, as well as hearing a report on economic development.

Fiscal Court Passes First Reading of Right to Work Ordinance on 4-1 Vote

The courtroom at the Butler County Courthouse was packed with union workers on Monday night as Butler County Fiscal Court once again addressed passing a Right to Work ordinance.  After much discussion, magistrates voted 4-1 to approve the first reading of the ordinance for Butler County. Fourth District Magistrate David Whittinghill was the lone nay vote.

Planning & Zoning meets

Morgantown's Planning and Zoning Commission meet on Tuesday, February 3rd, at the Eva J. Hawes Community Building.  The meeting was called to order by Chairman Jody Forgy with all members present - Danny Cardwell, Patty Craig, Hobart Flener, Jr. and Bryan Locke.  Planning and Zoning Administrator Glendal Deweese was also in attendance.

We were so thrilled to donate $4300 + in the 3rd Qtr. and we were thinking maybe this thing had peaked…but we were wrong!  The 4th Qtr. numbers continued to grow and we are proud to announce a total donation of $5,389.24, up 23%!!!    This brings the total amount donated to Butler County schools and programs in 2014 to $17,000.58," said Jason Jones, VP of Operations at Morgantown Bank & Trust.

Embry Impressions Printing Company Is Moving

Barry G. Embry of Embry Impressions Printing, Industrial Drive South, Morgantown, Ky announced today that the company will be moving operations to a newly renovated facility next door to the current factory. The new facility will be modernized electrically and digitally to accommodate the new styles of digital equipment needed to move to the next era of print management. No reduction in staff or interruption of services is expected. The move is expected to be completed by May 1, 2015. An Open House will be announced at a later date.

Guthrie Named to Education and the Workforce Subcommittees

This week, Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) was named to two subcommittees for the House Committee on Education and the Workforce.

“This year, the committee will build off of last year’s work to reauthorize the Higher Education Act as well as the Elementary and Secondary Education Act,” said Congressman Guthrie.  “This is important work and I’m looking forward to continuing to find solutions that put our students first and give today’s teachers the tools they need to succeed in the classroom.”
