Cardwell to serve as VP for the KY's Organ Donor Awareness Program

Melissa Cardwell, Circuit Court Clerk of Butler County, has been selected to serve as Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Kentucky Circuit Court Clerks’ Trust For Life.  Created by Kentucky’s Circuit Court Clerks in 1992, the Trust For Life is a statewide 501c(3) non-profit organization that informs, educates, and encourages Kentuckians to register as organ & tissue donors to save lives.

Fatal on KY 70 Rochester Road Involving a 5 Year Old and School Bus

(Morgantown, KY)-  The Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green is currently on the scene of a fatal accident on KY 70 Rochester Road in Butler County involving a school bus and a 5 year old child.

Magistrates approve litter abatement payments, accept resignation, review policies and procedures

The Butler County Fiscal Court held a called meeting on Tuesday, September 22, at the Butler County Courthouse.  All magistrates were in attendance: Stevie Givens, Johnny Tuck, Chad Tyree, David Whittinghill, and Bobby Moore.

Morgantown, Butler County proclaimed "Law Enforcement Community"

On Wednesday afternoon, September 23, the city of Morgantown and Butler County were proclaimed a “Law Enforcement Community” by Mayor Billy Phelps, Judge-Executive David Fields, Commonwealth Attorney Tim Coleman and Butler County Attorney Richard Deye. 
The group, including local elected officials and several individuals from law enforcement and the community, gathered to witness the proclamation signing on the steps of the Butler County Courthouse.

B.R.A.D.D. gives schools $10K for "Leader in Me" program

Butler County Judge-Executive David Fields and Morgantown Mayor Billy Phelps presented Butler County Schools' Superintendent Scott Howard and the local advisory council with a check for $10,000 from the B.R.A.D.D. Board for The Leader In Me Program.  The program started this year at Morgantown Elementary and will be implemented at North Butler Elementary next year.

Greg Drake II Speaks to Reedyville Rural Development

Greg Drake II spoke to the Reedyville Rural Development Club on September 17, 2015.  Greg discussed his 2014 trip to China with the WKU Confucius Institute.   Drake travelled with a small delegation from South Central Kentucky to Beijing, Langfang, and Tianjin China. 

While there, they discussed the US food system, and especially food safety.  The group was also able to tour several points of interest around Beijing.

"High Attendance Day" Thursday with cash awards on the line statewide and based on enrollment

High Attendance Day

Thursday, Sept. 24 has been designated as “High Attendance Day” for public schools across the Commonwealth. Elementary, middle and high schools may compete in small-school or large-school categories, and statewide awards will be based on each individual school’s performance, regardless of its district’s overall numbers. The school in each category with the highest percentage attendance for that Thursday will receive $500.

North Butler Elementary and Green River Schools Identified by KDE for Honorable Mention List

On September 8th, 66 schools were identified as Honorable Mentions, for schools across the state in regards to teaching conditions, school safety and student achievement.  There were two schools chosen from the Butler County School District, North Butler Elementary and Green River School both made the prestigious list.

 In a town where burgers and sandwiches dominate the menus of most restaurants, Hillside Café and Steakhouse is crafting a niche by offering a  variety of steaks, barbeque, home cooking, and homemade desserts. The restaurant’s menu offers daily lunch and dinner specials.
“We are excited to be open, our hours are 11:00am-9:00pm, seven days a week, and later if we need to be open,” said Steven Phelps, owner.  We hope to get karaoke started on Saturday nights from 8:00pm till 1:00am.”
